Hi, I've been composing for about a year and a half now. I also play piano, flute, and ocarina, and I sing. My earliest works were in a dissonant, late romantic style, but I've since developed somewhat of a post-minimalist style. I mainly write for large ensembles and keyboard instruments.

Hello everyone. I have deep passion to music, especially Baroque era. My favourites include J.S Bach, C.P.E Bach, A. Vivaldi, and D. Scarlatti.

For years I have wanted to compose baroque music, to be an artiste of the kind. I have Finale2003, which has proven to be quite useful.

I would do anything to learn more and more about Baroque music, study the chord progressions, type of instruments used, art of the fugue, and so on and so forth. Should anyone want to help me to understad more of that resplendent music, I would be most grateful.

Hey my name is Melanie im 19 and studying for a music degree at the university of Huddersfield. I am not really into a lot of the modern idioms for composing but am willing to try anything once. I prefer to compose characters and emotions such as that of musicals and films.

Hi. I've been here for a few weeks, but I thought that I would introduce myself. I have been composing only for a year or two. I've played in my school band for five years and am still going strong.

I'm still fairly new at composing in its entirety, but I'm willing to do anything to learn about it. I'm hoping to double major from University of North Texas in composition and percussion...maybe flute if I really wanted to start learning flute again...

Hi I'm Jason, I'm 17, and I play piano, clarinet, saxophone, and oboe. I started composing fairly recently but plan to major in music composition hopefully at University of Southern California. I've written two full band songs, and am currently working on a multi-movement orchestral piece, and a solo work for vibraphone, which hopefully I will get posted soon.

On a side note I have an upcoming lesson with John Mackey to get some critique on my college portfolio as it stands right now, so hopefully that will kind of give me a little jumpstart into a career if I can manage to impress him.

HOLY scraggy. A n00b.

Welcome. I'm Maestro Sapphire. If you have a bent for opera, by all means audition. If not, that's good too. You might end up playing Queen of the Night. Tee-hee.

That's an inside joke. Sort of. Once you integrate, though, you will be the inside. :O

I'm kind of sporadic in my conversational whims. Especially in welcomes. Is it convowelcoADD?

Speaking of which, that sounded better in my head that it probably does in yours. In any case, don't judge YC based on me. It would be unfair to both of us, though for markedly different reasons. :P

Hi, i'm Lana. I play piano, guitar and sing. Just want to say hello to everyone!

Hi,

I am Jaap Visser and I am a composer from the Netherlands. I have studied classical composition, sonology and musicology and I am working at the moment as freelance composer and sound designer.

Jaap is a great guy and wonderful resources for composers looking to break into the video game and film markets!

The name's Bryan. :]

I just turned seventeen, and I play the viola, the piano, the clarinet and I sing.

I'm a pit orchestra specialist on viola, and I'm also a solo pianist, and do rehearsal piano for shows as a side job. Clarinet is just something I sorta picked up. Singing I only do for fun, mostly in Chamber groups.

So naturally, most of my composing tends to bend towards the Broadway Musical type of work. However...I'm not much of a lyricist. -_-

I, however, am.

Welcome to YC. Although I prefer the term librettist, yours covers a good half of my stock-in-trade.

You're a jerk, W.E. Sapphire, you're a jerk.

(Very obscure reference. I don't expect anyone to get it.)

Cheers Nathan :D Same goes for you! The pleasure is all mine to know you and enjoy your great personality and great composing skills.

Hello!

Hi I'm Nick, I'm 15 and I have been playing the violin for 3 years, the piano for 1 1/2, and I have been composing for about 2 1/2 years. I also sing and act, and I have done that for as long as I can remember. Nice to meet you all!

Hello, all!

My name is Jackson Parodi and I live in south Florida. For 4 years, I have been playing the tuba, but I have only been playing music for about a year. The tuba is my main musical tool, although I do put it down sometimes for the computer (or a pen and paper, or some bottle rockets...).

Composing is a relatively new facet for me. I've been arranging little things for a while, but only in the past couple months have I (I think) really found a way to take what's in my brain and translate it into something my HP vp15 monitor can read.

For the past year, music (in most of its forms) has really been the main thing in the forefront of my mind. I have no doubts that I will continue music tomorrow. I did yesterday, and I did today, so why not tomorrow?

I'm 16 years old now (going to be in 11th grade). I have just transfered schools, and I expect that I'll be in a better place here (both for what I want and for what I need).

This looks like a great community, and I look forward to it!

Hello!

For 9th and 10th grade, I went to Coral Reef Senior High School. For 11th and 12th, I'll be in the School for Advanced Studies (@ Kendall campus).

The actual school does not have any arts program (just core high school classes + whatever college courses you choose), so I had to make arrangements with the college music dept. head on me being in an ensemble, and, as perhaps a strange form of humor, my musical schedule will actually be more packed then before when I was at a school with a [fairly decent] arts program.

Hi I'm Jackson, I'm 26 and have been playing music since I was a child, first piano, then guitar and a little french horn somewhere along the line. I started writing music several years ago for classical guitar, but I've developed arthritis or something of the sort so this year I bought Finale and have started composing for other instruments. I look forward to hearing everyone's music and perhaps even sharing some of my own!

My name is Luke, and my musical thirst is unquenchable. I love listening to, and making my own, music. I play guitar with several church bands, and bass guitar for another. I'm also involved as a trombonist in a symphonic concert band. I'm hoping to learn and share here, and I've already posted one of works on the 'Chamber Music' section.

Hi, im Bryan! Im 18 in a week, and have been composing since last year seriously. I've been playing guitar since I was 7, and have just done 8th grade. I would really like to compose a lot for guitar because i love it. I like minimalism too, and beethoven's presto from the Moonlight Sonata.
