Hello! :D

I'm Charlene and am from Australia! I started classical guitar when I was 12 and started composing initially on my guitar....however I progressed onto piano and have been getting lessons for the past 2 years! I found that I just...composed things. Of course not being that far along on the theory side of things I don't know what I'm doing most of the time lol....if it sounds good I just write down what notes I'm playing...! However I did study music for my HSC! It'll be interesting to post some of my stuff and see....how it rates...!

I've got a full on orchestral piece in my head....but of course would have no idea on how or where to begin trying to notate it! I've got pieces of it....through trying to replicate it on piano....however all I can do is hope that someday I can work it out so that I may write it down fully and properly!

Hi my name is Vlado i play on electric guitar and composing stuff for my band and i am also singing and trying to play on piano and i am student of musicology

Hello! I'm Matyas, Hungarian living in Paris, France. Graduated in London in 2005. I play the piano and the flute. Happy to have found this site, nice meeting you, Everyone.

Hey, the name is Lissa Lo. I'm a Norcal resident originally from Socal...I'm a music major at Sonoma State and am hoping to transfer soon...I'm not sure where yet though. I'm a composition major, and my current pet project is a mini-musical-comedy about Disneyland. Yea, I'm a bit of a Disney nerd. Anyway, I was very glad to stumble upon this site one day, it's very interesting...

I am a violin enthusiast. I am currently in Suzuki Book 4. I have a new teacher and he is helping me with double-stops and third position. I have written my own compositions before and learned to use "paint" to create them. That was hard on the fingers and eyes. Plus, if I made a mistake, I wouldn't know right away... Plus, I had to use ink to add any slanted beams.

I like Finale NotePad, because you can play along as you "follow the bouncing ball". Fun!

My Name is Chad, Ive been Playing Clarinet for almost 12 years. Ive played many other instruments aswell, Im fascinated with Double reed instruments. Im 15 from Southern Oregon, and we have crappy music programs here, so Im self taught Mostly. Ive won Best Clarinetist in Southern Oregon 3 times in a row now, and my goal is to become a Music Educator. I have been composing for only about 4 years, self taught aswell. I own Finale Print Music 2008. I also own my own forum, I host and play online versions of the TV shows Survivor and Big Brother, and such. I came here when I heard I can finally get opinions on my music, as no one around here knows much.

I hope to have a great time here.

Ello. I'm Jordan from Central Texas. I've been composing since i was... well... a kid. But i didn't realize the great extents of composition until recently. I have written specifically for wind ensemble, but also for jazz band and chamber ensembles. I feel like this is a good opportunity for me to interact with other young composers in the world. I hope this gives me a chance to make some new friends and improve myself as a composer and a human being in the process. Thanks!

Welcome to Young Composers, you 4.

Enjoy it and try not to just disappear as most people do.

Hello,

I'm Bassem. I'm 19, I live in Cairo, Egypt. I'm a completely self taught musician/composer. Unfortunately, I've never gotten to study music in college.

Hi I feel inspired to be in a forum with composers, since childhood it was my dream to be composing. I'm just a beginner I hope that this forum will put me on the right track. thank you

My name is Michael Pacheco I am 16. I play violin, clarinet, am learning the piano, and can on a good day make a OK noise on the guitar. I have only been composing for a few years my main interest is in both avant-gard and 16th century thought out cross-word puzzle type composing i.e. fugues canons that sort of thing (I know there is areal name for it but I can't think of it at the moment. Here are some of the pieces I have composed. Be gentle about any comments please.

so many ppl join, but so little ppl stay.

its always the same ppl talking on this site...:(

ppl, please stay. PLEASE. *makes cute face*

LOL because they don't know that you are a female.

Hello, I'm Jim. I'm a high-school student who hopes to turn music into a career some day. I play a variety of instruments (clarinet, cornet, ocarina, balalaika, misc. percussion, and still looking to learn more). I'm fairly new to composing. I've tried it a few times over the last year or so, but was never really serious about it until now. I enjoy Romantic-era music and ragtime/early jazz, as well as Eastern-European folk music (especially Russian). Anyways, I joined this forum because it seemed like a place where I could get to know more people with similar interests to mine, and also because the people here really seem to know what they're talking about when it comes to composing.

Hello! my name is Dan, I've been playing guitar for about 10 years. recently switched over to classical to major in music education. and i'm looking heavily into a double major in composing. I've always made up my own little tunes and found music in everything around me all throughout life. I came here to learn as much as I possibly can and to hopefully post some things to actually get critiqued hope this all works out!

Marhhaben, Bassem. Kifak? :)

That's almost all the Arabic I know yani, but I wanted to welcome you. We don't get many people from the Middle East here.

Hey everybody, I'm Sabrina. I'm a college junior, and my major is music theory and composition. I love to compose and arrange all kinds of music, but I also adore theory (especially constructing 12-tone matrices in my spare time, how bizarre is that?). For original work I prefer the genres of string quartet, SATB choir, chamber groups, and anything involving piano (and, yes, I do employ traditional tonality in ALL of my compositions). I've been studying piano for about 14 years and while in college I've been studying voice as well. I'm not sure what else to say, except that I'm super excited to have found this site, and I'm looking forward to participating!!

Hi, I'm new to Young Composers but i have been composing music for some while now and i was happy that i have found this site. i also play the Cello, Piano and the Bagpipes.

Hey all, my name's Mike Peaslee. I’m the video game sound designer for Crystal Dynamics. I did the in-game and cinematic sound design for the last few Tomb Raiders. I've also been writing music and doing my own custom sample and sfx libraries in my free time for awhile now.At 32, I guess I'm just past the edge of young. For some reason, I find endless recording and editing kind of cathartic. I like the process of music as much as the finished result. I’ve also always liked to focus on rare, unconventional or home-made instruments and found-sounds. I carry recording gear with me almost constantly and try to capture anything I come across that sounds remotely interesting. I do most of my sample library work with a game/film trailer composer friend named Troels Folmann.

I grew up as sort of a musical misfit. My highest educational pinnacle before dropping out of high school was spending 3 years in marching and concert band. Everything else I know is self-taught and done by ear and gut. I can sort of get by with most instruments I pick up, although I never really become exception. I am a pretty decent drummer, but what I think do pretty well is I sing, record and compose. Well enough to pay the rent and feel good about what I do.

Tonehammer is actually a kind of badass name. I haven't a damn clue what it means but it's intimiidating nonetheless. :hmmm: You pass.

Welcome to YC! May you love, get bored with, hate, and then eventually leave us all within a short 24 hour period! :)

Tonehammer sounded like a good conceptual description of the kinds of libraries we create. Lots of metal, massive drums, strange pianos... just generally unusual, slightly discordant and somewhat uncivilized.

I should probably invent something musically brutal and call it the Tonehammer though. Maybe claim that it's some rare, arcane instrument that few have ever heard and fewer have ever played.

Hey everyone, my name's Hugo, and I've been composing for a year or two. I''m from Canada, and am a huge aviation fan. I hope we'll have a great time together.
