Unexplored Land

Some spacemen explore a strange planet.

Unexplored Land

I think the over all tempo could be slower and it would get across more of what you are looking for. But I love it! I really like the strings in the back ground. The brass could hold their notes out a little bit longer and fade for a neat effect. Well done!

Thanks dude! im gonna try lowering the tempo..

This has a pretty good feel to it. Though, in the beginning part, it felt more like a Jaws-esque theme to me.

Whereas for a space exploration, I'd keep it more subtle (like :025 onwards), since space is empty and kinda mysterious.

So lowering the tempo, like amoscochran said, would be a good idea, I think.

good good! you should lower the tempo as amoscochran said , and for the space exploration part , i always thought space is kind of mysterious in a glamour way , but here you show it as a scary place as if there's an alien ship is around . good job:D

what did you use to get these sounds(sound libraries)??

I think the tempo is fine, honestly. I wouldn't change it as it keeps the pulse steady and the action moving. It's a good cue, very nicely done. :)

-AA :)

Mmmm, short and sweet! I LOVE the dissonance and suspense in this piece! I love the pulses. You know what? About what the people above said about the tempo - I think it would be great slower, and just as great at this speed. It's fitting for an unexplored land, because it implies the feel of impending danger. Nice job with this, man. :)

woah I love this!!!

ever played dead space?

this would be SO perfect for that

the tempo is fine for a tense moment when something is about to happen...

I respectfully disagree with Max above me — Dead Space had a BRILLIANT and BRUTAL score, and this is faaar too tame.

Which is nothing bad, because honestly the Dead Space score is a challenge to listen to. An amazingly crafted and fantastic challenge, but a challenge nonetheless.

I digress.

This track is cool and what it actually reminded me of a lot was the ooold original series Star Trek kind of vibe....like it came from an episode of TOS when they were exploring a planet. Neat work overall, some serious mixing issues (your instruments aren't at all placed in the virtual stage) and sequencing problems (mostly just unconvincing note transitions and such), but a good effort.

Keep working, keep learning, and keep sharing! :)

Thanks all!

Marius: I haven't heard dead space, but from the sound of it, this cue isnt meant to be brutal or challening as much.

What I'm wondering is where are the bad note transitions specifically?

And you're right.. I forgot to place and pan the instruments!

pretty much convincing coax, good libraries also

thanks a lot J.

Nicolai

I liked this a lot and it did sort of remind me a bit of the old Star Trek series music.

I think what Marius meant by transitions has to do with going from note to note in either a legato way or a staccato etc. Not in a Melodic way. So it just is a restatement that the piece would benefit from more cc work. Some of the string work could be a bit smoother and in other places more dynamic. It means you have to do cc work on every single note in the piece.

Still a neat cue

Ron

I love how this sets the mood.

Danger can be lurking around any corner! Except, the person is a hero!

That's what I got from the brass section at least.

Really neat stuff.
