Improvisation No 1

My first try at Improvisation!Hi All!I have never really improvised before, but I thought I would give it a try, please give me some feedback, tips and advice lol....

Improvisation No 1

I wanted to know if you composed this as an "improvisation" or if you sat down and improvised at the piano then wrote it down?

The music is nice and moody. It does very much sound like and improvisation regardless if you actually improvised or composed it as an "improvisation".

But before I say more about the piece I would need my first question answered

i believe what you are saying is composition, not improvisation.

improvisation is NOT knowing whats going to come out, you have to improvise your way as you go along. its actually real-time composing.

This is purly improvising...I havent written anything....I call this noodling, I had audacity open while I was practicing, and then I was just playing....this is what I recorded...

so when you gonna jazz us up, i can feel the swing tensions over there :phones:

You definitely don't want advice from me on how to improvise I'm notoriously awful at it!

As for this piece, as J said, it feels like it wants to break out into a mix between classical and jazz at times: as it is, it feels unfinished. All the ideas are there, but they aren't brought to the surface yet. There is definitely great potential though

Improvisation to me is the supreme art of composition. Every piece you compose in 'essence' is an improvisation - right from the ground up. I like this very much and can definitely tell you had fun doing it. Kudos.
