Watching ~ May's Theme

Featured Replies

This is the theme of May, one that was interwoven into Mindfuck. It's meant to be creepy and slightly retro. Not much more to say, as I'm a bit busy at the moment, so enjoy!

Watching ~ May's Theme

Very creepy intro, Delusional! I definitely feel the retro vibe.

I like your effects. You use them well.

The piece is a lot easier to follow than your Mindfuck one. I problem with this is that doesn't go anywhere. It travels between sections but the time we reached the end, it doesn't feel like you truly developed anything. I think you could build off of your quieter section at the end and create something huge and musical and fun.

Nice work, Delusional!

Hey Duncan,

Another successful retro piece here. Just to add to what John has said, in terms of production I'm hearing the same issues I heard in your other piece which was a total clash of frequencies...it's an extremely muddy mix. You really should spend some time practising your EQ/panning/reverb work so you can give your pieces some clarity. The writing meanders, but it's not bad for the genre, so really the weakest link here is production and I think you should aim to address that sooner rather than later, it's dragging you down. :)

Also, please comment on other peoples' work when you're around, we each need to do our part to help people grow and learn around here

Can't do much but but admire. Sounds like Amiga but better. Had any inspiration from elwood? Looking forward for a adventurous song from you. If you have one, let me know.

I really like creepy-sounding pieces like these! Overall it's pretty great, but at about 33 seconds in I'm confused about which part should be the melody. Like what Marius has been said before me, some EQ/panning/reverb work would help a lot.

I'm thinking the ending should actually be a transition... a transition to a much more intense with aggressive percussion, haunting strings, and a mysterious... almost sudden ending. That being said, the ending you have makes more sense since it's supposed to be someone's theme music.

I really like this. It's still retro, but also dark and mysterious. That melody at the top really reminds everyone of teh old days of TSI. I personally would have liked to see a little more development, especially with that snare drum that came in (though that's just MHO) . THe mix and ending has already been commented on in enough depth, so yeah, keep composing!! :phones:
