April 1, 201015 yr This is a piece that represents different thoughts, moods and ideas during a daydream. The varying, contrasting sections signify fast changes in thought during a daydream. It's most simply a musical journey of a daydream. Daydreams
April 1, 201015 yr I love the way you changed styles completely. Honestly, this could be the most diverse thing you have written. I love the somewhat medieval/arabic sound you have towards the middle. A very nice piece Ben.
April 1, 201015 yr Nice use of brass at the beginning! The bells are are also nice, especially how they make the daydream feel more evident. I also agree with thewritingwriter, because although your transitions are slim the style change is very smooth. It also fits the daydream title properly. I would try to accent the melodies more. You've done great in most places but there were times (especially in all brass) where I couldn't find the melody. Overall, a great piece that really creates an image - something that is very hard to do.
April 2, 201015 yr This is pretty cool! I enjoyed it a lot. Various and contrasting melodies one after the other, yet nothing really clashed or felt out of place. It's also certainly a lot more diverse than my day dreams! I think the only thing I'm not fond of is the very last few seconds. I think I know what you were going for, but to me the Sol-Fa-Me-Re-Do ending is not interesting enough. It sounds like one is politely leaving the daydream. But what if one is smacked out of it? Just another take and musing food for thought. Very nice creation; pleasure to listen to.
November 4, 201015 yr Author Before I show this to my college band director, any more suggestions? Thanks!
November 4, 201015 yr 1) Did you COMPOSE this or arrange this. Fix it. 2) Put a metronome marking on this before I conduct it at MM=220.
