PLAY Engine

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Recently I installed the free edition of the EW/QL Symphonic Orchestra plug-in, and I'm finding that after export, the instruments sometimes cut out (often completely). This is in the MP3 file, not in the preview.

I am using FL Studio 8.

The buffer was set at 40ms at the time of composing it, but it is now set at 16ms.

i have this problem on the full edition also, what i did is put some of the instruments on another set of PLAY plugin. i load 2 PLAY engines and spread those which didn't come out well.

I have it too, but my computer is old, so I decided to buy a new one. You need a good processor and good working memory in order to have your computer be able to produce all sounds well.

i have E8400 dual core and 4 giga ram, should be enough no?

I have 2.0 GHz and 1 GB RAM... I'm guessing that's not enough. Haha.

32 bit set up, too.

The J, I think that should be doable, I know got a quad core (intel i7 860) and 6 GB of ram (with a free slot, so possibilties to extend to 16 GB ram), had something like the same as you delusional.

Delusional, it's definitely a hardware issue — that's an underpowered machine for any sort of serious audio production work with modern sample libraries. 64-bit isn't necessary, but a faster processor and lots more RAM will be vital. As it is, you can try freezing and exporting small groups of tracks at a time and then mixing them back together as audio so that your machine isn't working so hard that it has to cut out during the rendering process.

PLAY is about to get an update that will make it far more efficient, but even so it's not a light toy, so it will tax your computer, especially if you're loading a lot of samples. In terms of one instance vs. spreading instruments across multiple instances, sometimes that will help, most of the time it makes no difference — depends on how well your DAW handles multi-core processing and whether or not your computer even has multiple cores to work with.
