Ebony, Part 1

Featured Replies

This is a solo piano piece. I called it Ebony because I only used the flats and sharps on the piano, which are the black keys. Later, I will have Part 2, which is going to be more electronic... Please comment. I like what I did here, but I really need to know what others think.

Ebony, Part 1

Hmm, there's only so much of the pentatonic scale I can endure. But it works in a sense that it's catchy and it has a logical direction, but the overall mood becomes a bit tedious, mainly because it's the same colour over and over again. The bass could be changed up a bit to remove some of those repetitive tendencies. Not bad, otherwise.

--This is alright, but this honestly really isn't anything new. What you've done is just use the pentatonic scale: in other words, there are only 5 black keys, or tones, for each octave scale, and this is common in Chinese/Oriental music, as well as others. It's nice you're trying to be unique and think outside the box, but don't do it in a way that limits your creativity just for some arbitrary reason  You're at a point where you need to be really exploring tones to grow as a composer.

--As for the music, it's nice, but as Sepharite said, it's rather long-winded, and kind of sticks around for longer than it should, by far.

Thanks for sharing, this was a pretty nice listen ;) I'll give it a 6/10 in my opinion.
