Prelude No. 2 for Piano Solo

Featured Replies

The second of two preludes performed at the concert. To be honest, these two preludes were derived from an exercise that my composition teacher gave the class, which was to create a tonal piece from (0146) and its inversion. It was supposed to be a small assignment, but I got a bit carried away I guess :-)

Prelude No. 2 for Piano Solo

Again, this is pretty good, Cyten

--This one has more diverse techniques and rubato to it than the other one, and it has some more contrast to it, but it still has the same basic strengths and weaknesses: it's again an "experience" piece that is great to hear, but it does really need a melody to strengthen the "memorable" aspect of the piece.

Thanks for sharing with us, this was nice to listen to  I will give it an 8/10 again, for the same reasons as the other prelude.

Another great piece, Cyten!

Nice variation of the ostinato around 2:00. I love how it keeps going beneath the melody, but it has it's own little variations inside.

Fantastic performance as well. Really really musical phrasing and everything. I'm assuming it was you playing it, right? Really musical lines. You had some great expression throughout the piece.

If you have any questions or specific parts you wanted feedback on, don't hesitate to ask :)

Remember, comment on other people's works as well so you can share in the lovin' that goes on here.

Peace on Earth,

-John

One quick question for you guys. Since most of this piece is in triplets and has lots of motion, does the opening introduction seem out of place? I put it there to establish the motive that drives the rest, but after a while, it is beginning to seem a bit superfluous/unnecessary. Once again, thanks for all the feedback! I don't know who else to show this to haha
