removing the hall reverb on EWQLSO gold?

Featured Replies

the reverb on EWQLSO is simply the most annoying thing, it gives you only that "hallish" sound without any option to remove it, unless you buy the platinum. i've tried removing the last decay waveform from the sample envelope, but its only good with staccato's and not long note since you can hear the reverb resonating throughout the sample.

did anyone manage to avoid that? i'm even starting to hear EWQLSO on world of warcraft, which is kinda sad since i thought the mixing would blur it abit.

is there simply no way?

Nope.

You can turn down the Release knob all the way to get about as close as can be, but there's no actual way to remove it unless you buy the close mic samples for Gold (assuming you have the PLAY version). Sucks, but that's the way it is. If you are on PLAY though, the close mics are a bargain so you may as well get them. :)

i saw in their site going for 119$, it is pretty cheap (16bit though).

Exactly. Alternatively, you could save up a little more and upgrade to Plat for an also very decent price. They had a brilliant 50% off sale going recently.

that depends if the EWQL does have the best dry brass/woodwinds/strings in the market? might be worth looking for other options.

then again, until i've started being familiar with EWQL mock-ups, would mean starting all over on a new library.

The truth is that there aren't really many other all-inclusive libraries, so if you wanted to not go the EWQL route then you'd have Vienna to deal with (brilliant samples but BONE dry so they need a LOT of mixing work to get them sounding good and playing well with others). Alternatively, you can pick and choose individual instruments/sections from different devs and cobble together a Frankenstein orchestra of sorts.

Yeah, I have the same problem, extremely annoying. Its as if they do it deliberately to get people to move to Platinum.

Oh well, i would just save your money until they come out with a new deal (hoping anyway, they usually do during the summer).

Yeah I'm afraid with EWQL that's just the way it is. Though if you ever have the cash and want strings that sound much better, you should try LA Scoring Strings. I just started using that program and it blows my old east west patches away.

Happy Scoring!!!
