Sarabande

Featured Replies

Wanted to try something simple, but somewhat expressive. The quicker section is a bit muddy due to my fat lazy fingers but I hope it made some sense. I also focused on keeping one theme throughout. Tell me how I did, good, bad or ugly ;)

Sarabande

Really nice:)

Sounds Beautiful!!! :Phones:

This sounds gorgeous.

Thanks for the nice comments. :)

Wow !!!. Did you play it yourself ?. Quite good man.

Beautiful play.

I definitely makes sense. To me, It has a little bit of Rachmaninoff in it.

Wonderful one.

Thanks!

Yup, that is me playing. I only play my music, I don't let anyone else! :P

I like the little dissonances in the piece (intended or not ), as well as the expressiveness: it's generally good to keep things simple when you want things to be heartfelt and simple :) You could really show a lot of emotion playing this, as it doesn't seem too terribly difficult. But I really like what you've done here: any chance of a score?

Thanks for sharing with us, Sepharite :D I'll give it a 9/10!

Hehe thank you!

Err yes... those dissonances were intended if you liked them! ... otherwise, they were mistakes if you didn't :D

Also, what did you mean I "could really show a lot of emotion"? Meaning, my playing was lacking emotion? Just wondering, since my piano teacher doesn't like my excessive rubato. It makes her nauseous :S

And no score, sorries :(

I didn't mean that comment as in "You're not showing emotion" What I meant was, with simple pieces, you're freer to express what you want to say with your body rather than having to focus on finger movements. Kudos if one can do both, but it's certainly more difficult :musicwhistle:

The very beginning is strongly Ravel-like, and throughout the piece there are many Ravelish phrases, also, as someone already noted (sorry, they were on the previous page ))) something from Rachmaninoff is present.

But the piece is absolutely wonderful, and still authentic. Though in some places my ear longed for much harsher dissonances.

As once Liszt said to one of youngsters that came to him to show him his score, after looking at it carefully: "There are a lot of new and beautiful things in your work... Unfortunately all the beautiful things are not new and all the new things are not beautiful" This is most certainly not the case with this piece :Phones:

Very beautiful piano piece! How do you play it without a score? Or do you have a handwritten one?

I'd really like to play this...

Woah, old piece.

I'm strange, I handwrite maybe a few ideas on paper - how it should start, climax and end. And then just stream line it with a little improv. It just works for me somehow.

Thanks for the comment!

Why did you call it a sarabande? Your piece has with the sarabande in common that it is a quite slow piece in 3 (at least the opening is in 3, later on it sounds like a 4/4, but since there is no score I am not sure) Is there a score?

sweet piece

Good work indeed, cant fault it, maybe emphasise the sarabande rhythm a little stronger to make it more recognisable ?

Ok... It's really an awful lot of work to write it all down and create a nice score, I understand. And the way you do it you also never get exactly the same thing twice, do you? ;)

Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah, I just named it Sarabande because of the first few bars lol. I apologize for my laziness.

Olibrehm, it's true. I can never attain the same results twice. I'm thinking of hiring a transcriber to put it on paper for me.
