Go Lucky platform level music

Featured Replies

yo and yo's and ho's and bows,

sawing on the strings again, this is a happy go lucky kinda platform thing, i didn't want to take out the big cannon samples in this, to make it reliable for the screenshots.

its got some nice developments, tell me if you think they've worked.

edit:

i think my tambourine is crappy on some parts, so i'll revise it later on, also its supposed to loop so forgive the abrupt ending.

Oh this is lively!

Brief but lively. I think you can probably sharpen the attack on the staccato brass a bit to differentiate it sonically from the less punctuated stuff, and a little extra panning work wouldn't hurt to keep things from sounding clouded, but it's actually quite a good mix for the samples you're using. What's the cue for?

i made it even longer, its supposed to be 60 sec, its for a short platform game, the things you do for exercise when you have no gig heh.

i'll check those panning, and btw there is NO brass there.

Hahaha wait a minute, what the hell? This new link takes me to a completely different piece than what I initially listened to on the network! xD

I assume this is actually the piece I was meant to hear since the other didn't sound much like level music at all. Anyway, so THIS is also far cleaner mix and production-wise. Very pleasant atmosphere and a great retro feel to it. Forget what I said about the brass since there absolutely isn't any in this track.

Nice work here — makes me want to try something with just retro synths! :)

hehe, i knew i was in trouble when i saw 3 views when i was about to edit my link. thanks marius, to inspire is my greatest goal.

Very nice piece , i love the overall happy feeling of it , and the orchestration is solid , but i think the dynamics are a bit annoying , im not an expert in mixing but i think you could do some work to improve it , composition wise your piece is very good and i really like it but it kinds of ends suddenly , but the mixing isnt your best !work harder on your mixing and change the ending maybe make it fade out or do anything as it ends suddenli .

keep it up -Abd

So what piece was it that you wanted to show us here? the one in the player or the one on the box.net site? I don't know what I think of the one in the player... samples are not working well enough for it to be on it's own imo. The one on box did, and I liked it! Very 'no worries, just jam the buttons' vibe. Well done.

roy, yes its the one on the box, i don't know how to remove the one on YC, thanks for listening i like it too!

abd, the piece is supposed to loop so i didn't end it, but it might be better to present it on a demo, which is also a question-how to present a loop? thanks for the feedback, and i'll keep it up :phones:

Hey Teh J in tha house,

Nice to hear a piece by you again, but I have to agree with abd, some dynamics, even in this kind of music would be pretty nice. It would greatly enhance your piece. It makes it more alive. I liked your use of instruments, and I enjoyed your writing. I kept listening, so that's a good thing :)

I think the tambourine isn't the worst instrument in the track though, there were some instruments not sounding quite well. Some were really dry, for example the bell sounds, please get in some reverb, there! The pizzicato bass, gives some sort of distorted sound (only very high overtones or something). I hear it the best at the beginning, I don't know if that's just me, but if not please try and filter it out with some eq or anything.

Anyways, nice piece. Keep up the good work :)
