October 13, 201015 yr Right, this is mostly some synths, drone, beat, almost no melodic content, it's made to create an atmosphere in some kind of a sci-fi scene. So here it is: http://www.box.net/shared/xrc3hljmfq
October 13, 201015 yr So I listened to your piece and.......I dont think Ive ever bobbed my head, actually, my whole body so much. This has such a freaking awesome groove phantom. I really dig it. Im not the best at mixes, so I really dont have that valid an opinion, but I thought yours sounded great. If I had to throw out criticism, it would be for some sort of breakdown in the middle, keeping it quiet, then exploding back to its awesome glory. Great work!
October 13, 201015 yr :phones: man you should try your luck at some party music, dance stuff, i think you got some fine edge there. kept me going and wanting to listen more phant, sounds like really good mix also. i would love development and a surprise in the middle, but even without it its really great.
October 14, 201015 yr Author Hey thanks guys! I was thinking about adding some subtle brass melody on top somewhere in the middle and maybe some strings, not really sure about it, what do you think?
October 15, 201015 yr Wow, here's something different! The funny thing is, I think you really nailed this one. It sounds really good. I am not used to working with this kind of music, so I can't really help you out with comments or anything, but I don't think it needs much more. This really would directly fit behind any films, it made me think of putting it behind district 9. You might should try doing that with some images and see how that works !
October 30, 201015 yr hey, maybe you coult come in with some high pitched violins after the effect at 1:02, if you want to. But I don't think the piece needs any more. Anyway a little experimenting is always a good thing :) Very good work!
October 30, 201015 yr Hey P! I actually listened to this a while ago but forgot to leave you a comment, so here goes! This is an extremely good track for this genre, first off, so be proud of it. The mix is mostly clean, though it occasionally gets just a tiny bit muddy and I felt like it could use some extra low-end. Your kick drum is punchy but it lacks depth. The very high short creaking sounds that are largely in the right channel also sound a bit dry which drew my attention to them distractingly. What I was really hoping for was a central area where you dissolved into a deep and peaceful ambience before bringing the beat back in more strongly for the conclusion. Overall a great track with some very nice sound design work. Thanks for sharing! :)
October 31, 201015 yr Author Thanks guys... M, I'll give that ambiance idea a go... This just felt as a good background for some melodic lines but I couldn't write anything that fit... I'll try a simple chord prog with some ambient synths and see how it goes. Thanks for the input!
October 31, 201015 yr Sounds awesome! I can visualize mutating. I also got a heavy Terminator feel from this. The electronic sweep/cracking going on gives this piece a really cool effect. The drum pattern is on point. I didn't notice until the end that it was varied a whole lot from the beginning. That leads me to believe that that is Very good.
