Hello.Long time, no C! I haven't been on YC for quite some time.I started this sonata in July 2009 and finished it a year later, July 2010. It is my best work to date and I am very proud of it.I just got a recording (by someone I met on YC) of it. Attached, the midi and the score. Some thinks to the about the piece:

The first movement overall was pretty good. It has everything a first movement should have, but I have a few things to consider. From measure 15, the first beat, I would not repeat that c, it detracts from the melodic shape of that motive and really feels qutie odd, I would suggest maybe, in the least going up to D or even moving downward again before leaping.

Secondly, there are issues with the harmonic language in the first movement. I keep getting moved around, it seems different time periods, which are really confusing. I always thought that if you are going to use a certain style, stick with it, otherwise people will be uncertain as to what you are trying to do. For instance, the beginning starts with a rather modernish 21st contemporary vibe, but then suddenly moves to a jazzish feel, in my opiniion, it hangs there and does stuff, before going back into the more modernish stuff. Which is okay, if that is what you are trying to do. And then, the end of the piece is extremely confusing. Why do you end with a I - V - I? I'm sure you can come up with something much more creative instead of going straight to something that we would hear in the classical era. It's just perpexling to here that. It's especially odd when you here a C major scale in the piano super imposed on notes like gb, Bb, and Ab. I just don't get what you are trying to do there and it sounds so odd in correlation to the rest of the piece.

For the second movement:

A nice slow contrasting movement using some modernish, I would say almost videogame stylish chords that you use pretty well. It sounds like you added some polytonality at one point which is your most interesting point in the piece. I think directly repeating the ending is rather dull. We've already heard that material so you aren't really saying anything new, vary it up a little bit. Furthermore, I would probably end with some kind of diminuendo instead of preparing a dominant G4/2 chord which doesn't even resolve correctly into the next measure... something to consider.

The Last movement.

I like how you sort of reference the first movement at the beginning, that was pretty nice. Again I find it so weird how you play with such modern chord progressions and then reference classical chords, it's just such a contrast of styles that it sort of detracts from the piece. It's just rather odd to my ears.

The ending is rather good with some polytonality whilst referencing the first movement. That adds a lot to the piece. Again, I don't think there is any need to finish V - I when using some of the harmony you use. You can always mess around with the listener's expectations, suprise the audience with the ending, it would add a lot to the piece. Over all, though, I think this is your strongest movement.
