metal singing bowl-tibet

for a movie i'm working on, the director needs that kind of effect:

i have this on EWQL goliath called tibetian percussion or something, which is exactly that but i don't have enough variation like in that link.

its very minimalistic feature and artistic, there is a soft piano "chinese" composition and the bowl sound should be underneath it to emphasize a tension, fear, violence.

I'm in class so I can't listen to the link, but as a cheap and very good option you may want to try this:

You have this in EWQL RA J.

huh? i have RA, i looked in far east samples..nothing.

i found in SD2 "tibetian praying circle" is that what you meant?

Hold on a sec... I'm pretty sure it is... ehm... nah... Temple rain drum... mixed it up with that.

$19 for that library sounds pretty sweet. Thanks, Marius!

i bought it, so cheap couldn't get the thing to work on SD2 in anycase. i hope its best, downloading..

Temple rain drum is on Stormdrum 1.

Temple rain drum is on Stormdrum 1.

i guess they call it tibetian praying circle now..

unless you have that too?

The temple rain drum is only available as an SD1 patch, so if you only have SD2 then you won't have it. About the closest RA comes is the gongs or gamelan ensemble, but those are just sort of in a similar timbral zone, they're not comparable.

the tibetian praying circle in SD2 and "tibet" on goliath are both singing bowl samples, but they have much less variations than the one on precision sound. i don't know how much variation you have on temple rain in comparison.

i'm actually getting this tomorrow, so i'll have a chance to practice playing it live.

Garritan recently released a World Instruments library that has a pretty decent sample set for Tibetan bowls.
