MIDI realization and notation service

Featured Replies

Hello all!

I've been a grateful member of the community for a while and have gleaned a good bit of helpful information from the discussions here. I'd like to make a contribution of my own. I have some experience working with software samples and professional notation and would like to offer my services to those interested. If you are looking for a quality mock-up of your compositions I'm you man :)

MIDI REALIZATION

Using software samples I can turn your MIDI performance or notation score into a quality mock-up for whatever purposes you see fit. If a MIDI performance is given a notated score would also be required to work with. It is also possible to work solely off a notated score though I would expect most people with those would have a MIDI output from the program used. A MIDI performance would not be merely dropped into a sequencer with new sound patches over it; care would be taken to create a realistic performance. This would be a paid service but to confirm in my mind how things will work and present an example to those interested I will take on one project for free for someone interested.

Please note: I can work with orchestral instruments but do not have access to a broad range of extended techniques. I also do not have access to voices yet. I would prefer that the free project taken on be limited to approximately two minutes or less for this trial run. For this service I can work with any size ensemble but they would be priced differently. Also note: software will never replace the performance of live players. I can give you a good mock-up but it will still not have the range and breadth of skilled musicians.

Example: Piano Quintet in F-sharp Minor, Op. 67: Third movement - Amy Marcy Beach

NOTATION:

I know some of you compose with pen-and-paper and then craft a notation file from your completed work. Let me do the dirty work for you! I have experience notating a number of works including modern, avante-garde instrumental works and a fifty-page harpsichord suite for its first new printing since the 1700's. I currently use Sibelius but if there is enough interest I would be happy to consider an investment in Finale to help you out.

Example: Premier Suite - Bernard du Bury: First new edition since the 1700's

A Song Stranger Than Wind - Richard Pressley

Thanks for taking the time to read this. This is kind of an experiment for me as I pursue involvement in the music community, so bear with me! Feel free to ask any questions or make any comments. And if you are interested please message me or leave a reply for further discussion. Thanks!

what are your rates?

can we hear your mock-ups?

can we hear your mock-ups?

Seconded. Though I don't really need anyone to do my mockups for me.

Thanks for the interest. I have updated my original post with a mock-up of the first minute or so of a work by Amy Marcy Beach. I decided to do something a little more exposed, rather than a large orchestral score, because it is a bit more difficult to make it convincing.

jrcramer - Rates are going to vary from project to project so the best way to proceed is to contact me with any interest so I can look at the jobs and I can custom quote you per project.

I hope this gives those interested a better idea of what I'm proposing. Thanks for checking out the thread!
