It's not for a driving scene, but it's purpose is for an almost only musical passage that has to transport us from one scene to another while still telling the story through the pictures. It's a WIP and working title so please comment on everything you find odd . Use the link here instead of the YC player

hey , i really like the piano intro , the piece is very emotional . i really like it :) . the strings in the first half needs some reverb . the piece feels a bit empty , i think you should let more instruments play the main melody ( spread it between the sections) . anyway i really like it , the mixing needs more work . :) .

Very nice tune, yeah the start gives that feel of scrolling text about something while having a picture overlay the background. I think it really falls into place, and the uprising near the end gives a feel of something dynamic taking place. Then suddenly falling into an abyss of darkness or where the tale shall begin. Overall though I really can't pin point anything to work at, but I will say it sounds like something that would play during an opening story or so. Nice work over all man, keep it up!

hey bryla,

its good to finally hear something of yours. i can see you're into film music.

this works out pretty well i think, as a drama music, it tells a story, i felt where the next scene fades in it gave a more "cheerful" mood while the beginning gave a more serious one-if that was your intentions.

regarding orchestrations, are you sure about that synth bass with such lovely piano? it kinda takes it down to me, maybe find a more acoustic-or real sounding sample for it to give the same effect(i know its hard because synth are cool in that way).and that music box sound also-maybe smudge it more by lowering the volume, it makes it sound abit "toy-ish".

i'm also not sure about the crash slide you did, if it was necessary for the drama, it sounded a tiny bit over doing it.

one last thing, everything i said could be wrong, since i can't see the picture, so it could be even better and could be totally unrelated, very hard to really judge film music without actually seeing the picture.

i enjoyed it, good to hear some serious music.

Hey guys -

Thanks for listening and commenting. I got up this morning to rework this piece a bit, and so far this is what I have:

www.thomas.bryla.dk/brylagrowingsuite.mp3

I have added a first segment from the beginning of the movie en suite. That section is for establishing shots.

The J: Finally? I have posted every few weeks for the past year :) The synth is part of the drama - meaning it has it's role later in the movie, so I feel it a nice filler in the ends of this cue. How do you feel about the crash now?

Thanks,

Thomas

i may be mistaking you for someone else then, sorry :)

HI Bryla,

I really enjoyed this, really cheered me up.

I think overall, it could do with some polishing up, especially the start up unitl 0:40, where everything seemed a little disorganised and all over the place in my ears - there was no clear sense of overall direction, which can be either good or bad depending what this is for ;) The piano is lovely and gave it a solid structure, on the cheesy side, but hey, cheesy=good xD (no pun intended!).

The flute at the start came in wonderfully and naturally, something I can never manage!! The glockenspiel in the latter half was really well used, and I think compared to the first draft, the reverb has really been finessed.

Anyway, thanks for sharing - hope to hear the final product!!
