Sunrise on Ice

Featured Replies

This piece took shape over the greater part of two years, and was my first full piece. When you look at the score, please don't wonder if I know what an accidental is. The piece really didn't call for any.I am unable to upload a recording, since the only recording equipment I have is my mom's iPhone which records directly to .m4a, although I can email a .m4a recording if you'd like.

Well, I learned something new today: There are lots of free apps for m4a to mp3 conversion. Done.

I needed one of those too, so thanks for forcing me to it ;)

It's not the best recording in the world, but it sure beats midi, I think.

I really like the atmosphere in this piece. It has a simple melody and stays within the same theme, that slowly develops, which is another thing I like about it: the overall melody remains recognizable, but evolves at the same time. And even though it was over 5:30 minutes long, it didn't seem all that long, it was enjoyable to listen to!

The only thing that bothered me was that the first chord in the second measure seemed a little out of place to me.

The chords also sounded somewhat monotonous up until the 'Flowing' part. However, not so much that it was jarring. I mean, it was only until I listened a second time to it while looking at the sheet that I really noticed.

Nice work! :)

Oh, I can say is wow! The simple but lyrical melody flows nicely in the composition. Also, I ardor the harmonies that are used here. A true romantic composers, you are. I give this 10 points.

A beautiful piece and a beautiful score, sir! :D And a live performance to boot ^_^

The harmonic work is really quite wonderful and expressive, even without accidentals flooding the page, which is nice to see for a change  The little touches add a lot (The trill in particular stood out to me at measure 51 -- it was sort of like the heart's fluttering after witnessing and extraordinarily beautiful site), as often times the music making is in the details. I love the sense of purity and innocence I get when listening to this piece ...

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed it! :phones:

Good job. It is nice to see someone not worried too much about being original or cliche and who writes melodies they want to hear. The piece sounds from the heart, and not showy, which is commendable.

My only qualm was the ending; I kind of wish it had ended on first chord of the last measure. But yes, good job.
