Im In.

Let me get this straight-

We can use woodwinds ONLY, no other instrumentation?

OOPS! I want to sign up!

Yes.

I'm still doubting about signing in :hmmm: ...

Really, my previous experiences in YC Monthly Competitions can be described as something between 'disappointing' and 'embarrasing' (although 'discouraging' would work better perhaps). I have entered two competitions, submitting my compositions within the respective deadlines... only to hear absolutely nothing from the judges since then (with the exception of Wayne-Scales's detailed review for the October / Nocturne Competition and Treehugger1995's review-scorecard for the November / Jabberwocky one). I know there were very few entrants in these competitions - but shouldn't it be easier for judges to rank two or three pieces than 15? Anyway, this was the bottom line for both competitions: no winner declared, no scorecards, little or no feedback at all. (All I really got was one revised and one new finished piece , though)...

Granted, the January Competition (from which I sat out - percussion not being my strenght) was entirely a different experience. There were many entrants (including some of the site's most renowned composers), the judges did a fine job providing both feedback and scores, and both the deadlines and the works were thoroughly respected. This February Competition looks much more like this as well (with entries continuosly pouring in, and a very interesting prompt for which I've had already a few spontaneous ideas) - so I'm kind of torn in two between this excellent outlook and my past bad experiences. Alas, I'm also working on a larger composition, which I'd be tempted to set aside for a couple weeks, but I don't really know what to do and time's running out.

Any advice / help / whatever will be welcome...

I'm just trying my best to make these worth while and good for the composers.

Otherwise, I'd ask for Competition's removal.

AND! I kind of like the idea of setting a larger project aside... I actually DO that sometimes. I know authors work on multiple novels at once so they don't get "too" into what they're doing. Takes away perspective.

I can see you're doing your best, and it's showing.

I think I'm in, if only to be honored by the company (there are excellent fellows showing interest on doing this). I would drop put, however, to make room for anyone else if there are more entrants than the max allowed (BTW, it's about time to update the list of entrants - I think we're above 12 now).

What the hell, I'll give it a shot.

I think I'll give it a shot... never really focused on woodwinds before, should be interesting :)

One day left to sign up! Two spots left!

Well this is my first experience I considering what Austenite said I trully hope it will be memorable in good way. ;)

Well, I am hesitant to do this, but I think you can count me in too. I have never competed in a composition contest before, but what reason is that to keep me from ever doing so. I think this will be fun. The worst that could happen is that I could be one of 11 losers.

Is it too late for me to join? I just saw this today.

No! You are on the list!

  • Author

Ok. We're full. :)

STILL looking for a judge!

If you guys are still out a judge, I'll jump in. I love woodwinds. And making people cry.

  • Author

Yay! Thank you Marius. :) We'd love to have you judge.

Unfortunatly Im going to have to ask to be taken off the contestant list. Im working on too many other compositions right now to try and squeeze in one more.

  • Author

Ok, that's fine. :) Please come back and participate if you have time in the future!

Remember, you have 5 more days to pull out without being penalized.

How do you submit music when it's finished? Simply post it or send it to specific mail or site?

  • Author

You upload it to the site, and then PM me the link to your piece.

I'm sorry to say I'll have to drop out too.

Just like Nickstix91, I'm currently involved in too many projects by now - many of them not related to music. So I don't really believe I'll be able to squeeze out this one in the remaining 10 days, despite my willingness to do it. (Alas, today's the last possible moment to drop out without penalty, isn't it?)...

Thanks anyway and good luck to the remaining entrants...
