hard to vote, I like all... maybe background could be something that includes all references to classical, modern, jazz, pop etc in one.

Hm... I like the current over all of these. They are quite alike, and somewhat childish if you ask me. :(

Are you planning on a redecoration again?

Why are you doing *another* redesign?!

I don't like any of them. The current is much more professional and clear.

Tacky, sorry. At first glance, the redesign is merely superficial and decorative (meaning, the layout of the page itself is the same as it is now, with some frilly decorations which will get old in no time and that do not add to the functionality or ease of navigation of the site). The icons of the review section are cute and colorful, but they do not relate with the music categories. They make no sense.

And what is with my avatar dominating the forum section of the mock-ups? lol

I've asked the designer if he can provide a better background, something with a more orchestral feel. Don't worry about the icons, I can change them at will. I probably will use a combination of his and what we currently have. I'll keep this design as a backup, but I felt YC was due for a more professional appealing look. Since these are mockups only, nothing is set in stone yet, I will most likely go back and forth a few times.

Any suggestions on how to improve the current mockups?

An improvement would be to stop wasting money on designers and start investing in site structure. Something that most of us have been saying since day 1 of moving to IP.Board.

We are going to undergo a design overhaul.

This is unprecedented and a complete surprise.

We want to be professional, but not boring. I'll try to find the right balance best I could, but a nice design could only help the community. Anyone who is unsatisfied could continue to use this skin, but this skin doesn't do much to suggest this is a music site unfortunately. This could leave a bad first impression.

Structure is something I constantly am working on.

Please show ONE thing to warrant this statement.

And no, the radio doesn't count.

Question: Have you gotten complaints of ANY KIND about unsatisfied members? Anybody who was "upset" about the lack of apparent musicality of the design?

Structure:

Music directory, Major Works, Repertoire, Radio (playlists, review credits, reviewers controlling aired.fm), chat options, mp3 playback, score embedding. There are a whole bunch of structural changes.

I've not received complaints, but the design is boring. If you guys are this against a design change you can continue to use this skin without a problem. My goal is to try and make this place appealing for first time visitors, so that they understand this is a music site at first glance. First impressions are important.

I do not think the design is boring. Maybe that is the impression of some 12 y/o kids. Well, I'm not.

Do not for the sake of appearances let the word 'young' in YC become synonymous for childish or frivolous.

I think it is the word 'composer' in YC that gives away this site if for music composers. Honestly, people who miss that shouldn't become a user. I would consider that an healthy form of selection at the gate.
