bryla
In teaching piano I have some very talented kids, that I want to expose to classical music. I'm looking for some short and simple classical works that can be played by an 8-yo with 2 years of lessons. Any ideas? Youtube and/or imslp-links greatly appreciated but not a must :)
ChristianPerrotta
Here's a good 4shared folder with tons of piano studies: http://www.4shared.com/dir/gquA00dn/Piano_exercises_and_studies__b.html Also, many Czerny op. are good for beginers. Bach's Anna Magdalena pieces are also good. Bartók has a huge book for children (http://imslp.org/wiki/For_Children,_Sz.42_%28Bart%C3%B3k,_B%C3%A9la%29) and his Mikrokosmos (which you can't find that easy... I have it. If you want, PM me). Depending on your student level, you can also try Schumann's Album for the Youngs, Op. 68 (http://imslp.org/wiki/Album_f%C3%BCr_die_Jugend,_Op.68_%28Schumann,_Robert%29). Clementi's 6 sonatines are also a good choice for a first contact with the classical sonata form. If you want to play with him/her, try Fauré's Dolly suite, Op. 56. Gurlitt has good compositions for children too, as well as other easy pieces. I hope I've helped^^
