September 21, 20169 yr Hi Although I write mainly for the piano, sometimes I like to do other little things. This is a short piece harmonized in two different ways: Version 01: with chord notes (thirds, sevenths, etc...) Version 02: with fourths and sevenths (and doubling the lead voice)
September 21, 20169 yr Cool! I do like the first one better, but that's because I'm a sucker for 13th chords (end of Mahler's "Der Abschied" as a great example). Maybe I'm hearing it wrong but there's a lot more contrast between consonance and dissonance in that one, harmonic "counterplay" that I really enjoy. I love that I still hear your style present even in this kind of stuff. Both pretty evocative pieces, regardless of their length. Nice-
September 22, 20169 yr They're both pretty cool, but I think I like the second one just a tad more. Maybe it's just because it sounded less typical to me. Good stuff in any case though!
October 12, 20169 yr Rich stuff.... It makes my eyebrows raise, and my head pull back.. (Been a while since that's happened).. That's a complement.. I guess cause it is so 'unique' and different to my ears.. I like that you can write short concise pieces, that get the point across clearly..
October 13, 20169 yr These are great. The voicings in first one sounds a bit more typical for the style. The second I think has a somewhat darker and richer sound. The ending of the second is what sells me on it. Even though the only difference is in the trombone voice, the subtle change seems to give the ending a completely different, darker feeling.
