November 16, 20169 yr This composition was created in autumn 2015 for the annual Christmas concert of Saint Nicholas choir which was based on Gregorian chant. The choir wanted me to compose something on a text to worship a Holy Mary. So I used a text and a chant which is not so widely recognized all over the world and made my own arrangement of the chant and put it into contemporary world without changing a single note of the original melody. The composition was well received and was performed several times since.
November 16, 20169 yr I can only say: Thanks! For posting it. It's very beautiful, and interesting (the score). It's amazing how those dissonances sound like consonances. I think, in the end, there are no such things, only different colors.
November 16, 20169 yr This is really beautiful! I love how you stayed very true to the chant but added in your own flavor to it, it's really quite unique!!
December 14, 20169 yr You are so lucky to work with such a wonderful choir! Americans never manage to roll their "rrrrrr"s so perfectly. The cluster chord on the "ma" of the "manes" at the very end of the piece was pure poetry. Beautifully composed and beautifully sung.
January 1, 20179 yr So beautiful! There is so much mystical beauty in these old chants and I'm so glad that contemporary composers like yourself are embracing them and making such wonderful choral music.
