November 20, 20169 yr Clever use of those dissonances to lead up to the E7 at the end. Perhaps I wouldn't used as many of them, but they work out very smartly at end. The rest was surprisingly tonal/modal. I'm surprised you didn't use the non-retrogradable rhythms in the melody to compliment it, but I guess it's not required by any stretch either. Nice!
November 20, 20169 yr Author Thanks. Truly, Messiaens world is enormous. I'm leading first with his modes and his fascinating chords, and later on I want to study the non-retrogradable rhythms. I've read about his concept of "ametrics", too.
