WALTZ - VALS

Featured Replies

Hi,  written in Messiaen's Mode 2.

Clever use of those dissonances to lead up to the E7 at the end. Perhaps I wouldn't used as many of them, but they work out very smartly at end. The rest was surprisingly tonal/modal.
I'm surprised you didn't use the non-retrogradable rhythms in the melody to compliment it, but I guess it's not required by any stretch either.
Nice!

Thanks. Truly, Messiaens world is enormous. I'm leading first with his modes and his fascinating chords, and later on I want to study the non-retrogradable rhythms. I've read about his concept of "ametrics", too.
