Hmmm . . . I'm not quite sure what to think of it. There were some things I liked (i.e. the chord progressions) and some things I didn't like (i.e. the END).

Keep composing

Thanks for your comment Toccata. I will try to make a better end.

First of all, this piece didn't sound like a piano work at all. For me, it sounded more like a pop music transcribed to piano. It's not a bad piece (although I dont like it) but if you used this melody as a pop music theme it would have worked much better than piano music. Secondly, it didnt have a proper form, or a development. Or if it had, I must have missed it.

If you are trying to write a music for piano, let say a small piece/ a minature for piano. You might find it helpfull to listen more of this genre and analise what other composers have done. This helps alot.

I suggest you keep your theme and start over. Analise more pieces, learn what else can be done with piano, and perhaps dont repeat same notes in 8notes. It's a bit out of piano writing.

I hope my comment helps.

I thought that since it is in piano it fit into this piano-arena,.?! And it is so few users of the experimental section so I chosed this, but maby it should be moved over.. hm .. thanks for listening to my melody anyways, Nightfly ;)

d

No I am not telling that you put your piece to the wrong section, thats irrevelant. I was just suggesting some improvements to you piece thats all

well i like it! I was totaly in it :) When music is faster It was like I run to find something and then when get's slower it was like looking around if this is it...but am no... run some more :) like some story ha? :) i like it!

thank you ! :)

Interesting piece, yes,

but entirelly correct, no.

I must say, then,

that it must be

in one of the sections below,

Not for being slow,

Not for being so-so,

this piece you mustn't throw.

In pop music this piece's spirits flow.

hello, hello Arthur Reglay

thanks for your response today

and your nice poem is not bad

it makes me glad, not sad

have a nice evening

d :D

I'll state this first. I don't like it.

Reasons:

a-It started and never took off.

b-It didn't seem to fit the piano well

c-sounded like you found one idea and never moved passed it

I did like

a-the chords

b-some of the harmony you used.

thanks, but hard review.

I am more like an Idea-finder, I wish someone else could make real music of it and/or some lyrics.

It's catchy, and spicey and has this catchy Eastern Flavour. I like it. There are just some things...I can't really tell what they are, but in some places it doesn't work. It was enjoyable to listen to.

EDIT: I decided that the second them is the only one I like. The first theme isn't great. The Arabic one is good. It makes me want to tango/Arabesque.

It is cool ... but I must agree with Nico and bitterduck that it doesn't go anywhere. Your harmonies were nice though. Sounds more like a study than a serious piano work. And yes, I think it sounds like pop also. Cool piece, keep composing :D

Thanks for your comments! :D I think Ill take the piece up from the drawer again and fix it when I am a little bit better tecnically some day in the future.

d

okay, firstly, i liked it, yeah its not tradtional classical music but hey, its fun. The little solo part at 50 messed up the flow of the piece. i wouldn't go so far as to say its pop, maybe like some off in the corner pop like symphonic rock or sometihng, it definately has SOME classical influences. it uses the same chord progression over and over. Sounds like variations on a theme to me.

1 - you stated the theme

2 you variated it

NIce, but what exactly were you aiming for?

Were you aiming for a classical piece becasue if you were you certainly screwed up, if not...

I'm curious to know? :D

hi Alley, thanks for comment! :D

I dont actually know what I was aming for.. hehe. I dont know very well the lines between the different themes cause im VERY amateur, I just try to find some ideas and make them sound well in my owd kinda style. Im hoping and trying for pop I think, and I think that was the case with Relle too!

d

I found it quite energizing. I'm a Music Therapy major, and from the point of stimulation, well, it did its job. However, after a while it did get somewhat repetative. Try making some variations, even if its just arpegiating the chords differantly, changing the chord progression a little, or maybe even think about throwing in a key change. Also, there are a lot of people here that dont seem to have enjoyed this piece. Dont let it get to ya. Keep composing. Try new stuff. Each piece will be better than the last. The more you write, the better you become. And to finish, I just wanted to say, good job on this piece. Yes, there are some things that could be fixed, but overall its very good.
