March 4, 20179 yr Here is a piece I did long distance with my friend Warren from Baltimore... It started as a different piece.. I stripped all he music out, changed chords, and built an arrangement around his amazing vocals.. Edited March 4, 20179 yr by markstyles
March 5, 20179 yr The scale walk up in the bass is a really good idea. I had some issues with your ii7/9 chords at the end of some phrases (especially in the chorus), I think it has to do with the notes in the melody and the chord that the vocals came from before. But overall it's a very good arrangement! Good job!
March 7, 20179 yr Author Thanx Monarcheon: I will have to process your comment about the ii7/9 chords .. I truly respect your insight into music.. I put them there, because I thought sounded sophisticated and it left a 'pregnant pause' or 'happy suspense'.. Does it sound awkward or wrong to you?.. I did this a few years ago.. So naturally I hear things I would do differently. I compose music with Logic Pro.. and leave everything in live MIDI format until the vocals are done so I can easily change anything.. I sometimes try chord substitutions as the song progresses. some work, other times it sounds too forced, and undo it..
March 8, 20179 yr Author Here is a song I did long distance.. A friend of mine, Warren who lives in Baltimore, sent me this song he wrote.. He was not satisfied with the music he had done.. I kept only his vocals, created a new chord progression and flushed out an arrangement around his great vocals.
