"Red Danube" - Quintet in B minor for flute, bass clarinet, violin, cello, and piano

This was my first chamber work, which I wrote when I was 9 or 10 years old. It was written for a concert of chamber music by various students at a music school. I later used the main theme in one of the variations of my Passacaglia Op. 1.

Here is the performance on Youtube. The group playing is called the Fifth House Ensemble.

I hope you all enjoy. 🙂

Listening right now.

May I ask... how did you get a performance?

Do you think they'll accept a work from me?

Background (you can skip, read the review, and come back to it later):

I'm writing a work for an Israely festival called "sounds in the deserts"(or something like that) conducted by Prof. Michael Wolpe.

I've been asked to write for a similar ensemble called "Meitar Ensemble", and chose to write for Piano, Cello and Flute.

Prof. Wolpe keeps saying that the performances I get are not good, and therefore I'm not good enough to join his festival.

But your ensemble (right now I'm on 3:45) sounds wonderful.

Do you have their email? or any other way to contact them?

Ok now for my review.

It doesn't sound like something that a child 9 or 10 years old could write AT ALL.

What a great talent, very impressive. If that's what you wrote by this age... I can't imagine what how great your skills are at this age.

You mentioned another work of yours, if possible, please link it up here, I want to give it a listen.

For deeper review- I'm not much of a good listener (both for words XD but I mean music),

I could give you a better feedback if you uploaded the notes.

I'm not sure that even then I'll have something to say,

it sounds perfect as it is.

Very well done,

keep up the good work.

Thank you, @Rabbival507 for your comment. I'm glad you like the piece.

Unfortunately, I really don't think I can help you. This piece was written for a chamber ensemble, playing music by composition students from the Merit School of Music in Chicago, and I was one of those students. Also, this was the only time I came into contact with that group, and that was about 6-7 years ago. I'm really sorry. 😞

Thanks so much for your feedback. I really hope whatever happens with your piece goes well. Maybe you could post the piece to the site, and I'll listen to it. Again, I'm really sorry I can't be of more help.

Good luck!

I plan to do it if I finish before the 7th of August (my last day of freedom).

I'll gladly hear a feedback from you, though I doubt I'll finish it in time.

Should be a 10 minutes piece and right now I only got four,

and I've been working on it for two weeks.

The problem is that I can't force myself to do it.

I tried to force myself many times in the past and it just doesn't work.

You can get the sketch I have right now though,

in PM.

Very nice and restful composition.
I am impressed by the young age when you wrote this.

The music sounds very romantic and I can hear that you play the piano as your instrument. Don't you?
Your piece sounds so pianistic and there is a considerable focus on harmonic progressions.

Well done!
