SilverWolf
What would be the Diatonic order for the (D) Dorian scale?
SilverWolf
I might be asking the wrong question, I mean the chord functions. Tonic, Supertonic, Mediant, Subdominant, Dominant, SubMediant, and Leading tone.
Ken320
The diatonic steps for the Dorian mode are 1,2,b3,4,5,6,b7 .. You would use those intervals regardless of your starting note. Edited July 15, 2019 by Ken320
SilverWolf
For the purposes of cadence/resolution(ending on the 4th/5th chord), is the reason I want to know if the chord functions are consistent across all 7 modes of major.
Ken320
I would say that the first triad of any mode represents its "tonic," which I put in quotes because they don't always get there with a ii-V-I cadence or a subdominet-dominant cadence. But they are tonal centers nonetheless.
