June 10, 20205 yr Another little tune inspired by the tropics - a sort of waltz for a cello quartet.....'sort of' in that I threw in an extra beat here and there...well, a kind of bonus I s'pose you could say... a poly-rhythmic waltz*. No references to tropical tunes, just the light-heartedness. *my text book defines poly-rhythm as "the ability to dance a quickstep to a waltz" so there must be something to it. There are times when things happen to fall in with 'key' and more traditional harmony and one might as well take advantage of it. It might just do as the backing to a video later on. Cheers!

June 26, 20214 yr Very beautiful harmonically - you seem to have an ear for modal mixture that doubles as modulation (something I noticed you do over and over in this piece). It's a very joyful and light-hearted piece which is always refreshing to hear.
June 29, 20214 yr Ah, what a delightful, quirky piece! Yet its little twists and "extra" beats (definitely a "bonus"!) are underpinned by a well-made structure, and a really very good loose tonality. I love those... flavoursome chords! aMC p.s. What soundfont/DAW do you use for those cellos? So much neater than my musescore ones! I had hoped to get it performed locally as our town orchestra has 4 cellists but only 3 of them could cope with it. Cheers, Q

I use Reaper's midi editor then transfer it to notation software. '
July 1, 20214 yr Author Here's the score, by the way, as it stands. It still needs dynamics and other performance instructions added but it's unlikely to be changed notes-wise now.
