Wish (Draft)

Featured Replies

This is a draft of a piece I just finished. I was inspired by looking at the stars the other night. This is why I added so many high sixteenth notes; they reminded me of twinkling stars. I also added a short variation of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in the beginning of page 2. As for the name, it’s a reference to when you wish on a shooting star.

I really need advice on how to make this better and longer in the final version. I need to lengthen it by 2 minutes and I have some ideas but I want to hear other people’s ideas.

Thanks.

Nice piece, the sound texture of the file doesn't really work with the actual piece but you can't really change that. The 16ths are cool and do work well. The ending seems to go on a bit, cause you have the nice downwards scale, than some chords (which they are probably fine but I personally don't think the first and second chord work that well together), than a nice little upwards arpeggio thingy and a chord.

A few things here, but I would especially be wary of your use of open intervals in counterpoint; depending on what patterns you set up, even things running in a different species (i.e., one hand in eighths another in 16th's), it can sound very parallel and harmonically unsubstantiated without proper care to chord construction on a horizontal+vertical level, not just vertical.
