March in GM

Featured Replies

The first draft of a March. I couldn't sleep last night so I composed this in bed on my phone.

I borrowed Jorge's theme from his latest piece, the trio for two flutes and bassoon. Definitely check it out if you've not heard it yet.

Vivid and lovely piece. I like the changes to minor in the middle sección.

It's great but there's some mixing up of the hands.  What I mean is that for example the top D in measure 5 sounds like it is part of the melody but you give it to the left hand.  Then in the penultimate measure you give the D to the right hand but it sounds like it belongs to the left hand part since there's a note missing at the end of that measure.  As far as writing pieces based on other fellow composers' melodies - I think it's great and I'm sure Jorge will be stoked about it too but I do hope that you asked permission to play around with it.  Thanks for sharing!

Nice! I love it, and not only because the March is named after me hahaha. I also love the movement to minor since it sounds abrupt and natural at the same time. These days you seem to be taking more risks when composing and I think they all sound great! Glad the theme inspired you! 🙂

Thank you for reviewing, you never seem to miss any mistake! Lol. Your reviews are really helping me to improve! I corrected the mistakes you pointed out and polished it.

It was meant as a surprise so on this occasion I didn't ask for permission but you are right, some may be flattered, others may be offended so ill take care in future.

Thank you. Papercomposer

Nice, happy and optimistic march. I love it. its remind me that 15 years ago my composing teacher gave me home work to write march in C minor even before I really started to play piano. Nice to remember things that I actually forget about. It's make me want to write some march.

Thank you YakoB. I have struggled composing a march, my last two attempts didn't quite have the forward drive expected of the form. Im looking forward to composing more in this style. I hope you do decide to write a march, I'll keep an eye out.
