GPO questions

Featured Replies

I know what GPO stands for, and I'm really looking forward to using it, but I have a few questions.

1. Is there GPO in finale 2006, or is it a plugin needed to be downloaded, or is it another piece of software?

2. Is GPO readily installed when I get finale 2007?

3. What about GPO in Sibelius? Readily installed or plugin?

Thanks for the help:D

I know what GPO stands for, and I'm really looking forward to using it, but I have a few questions.

A version of GPO is included in Finale 2006. It is a plug-in and require no additional software.

2. Is GPO readily installed when I get finale 2007?

Finale 2007 includes a version of GPO as well. Mind you, neither of these versions included in Finale are the full versions. Those must be purchased.

3. What about GPO in Sibelius? Readily installed or plugin?

Sibelius does not come bundled with GPO as does Finale. You can purchase a Sibelius edition of GPO.

So where can I download the plugin?

And if I use Finale 2007, I don't have to download anything to have GPO right?

So where can I download the plugin?

You do not just download a plug-in to use it. It comes bundled with the purchased software, or as a stand-alone software package that can work with and/or through notation software like Finale.

GPO is not "technically" a plug-in, it's a stand alone program developed by Gary Garritan that has been fully integrated into Finale 2006 and up.

Finale will function with any VSTi sample library as far as I know.

When you refer to "downloading" GPO and whatnot, I'm going to presume you have a hacked version of Finale?

I think the problem is that he hasn't read the manual like I suggested.

Yeah I read it finally. Thanks for telling me.. I think I'm not gonna install GPO, since it's gonna use up so much space on my comp...

I find that it's worth the space, but that's up to you, of course. :P

I don't think this is true from what i've read on other Finale forums. It can be very difficult or impossible for some VST orchestral plugins to work effectively in Finale 2007.

A much more flexible option though is to export a Finale file as a .mid file with tracks separated, then import the .mid file into a real sequencing program like Sonar. Then you have immense control over your VSTis and can do anything you want. Finale really becomes dynamite when used in conjunction with other sequencing software like this.

. . . neither of these versions included in Finale are the full versions. Those must be purchased.

What are the precise differences?
