Two short pieces

Featured Replies

Hi @Luis Hernández,

Both pieces are really nice. I love the use of harmony in it. I especially love the ending of the second one, really poetic. Nice texture as well.

Just some minor issues: For the first one I would probably use the key signature with one sharp since C sharp is only used for the first 4 bars.

For the second one I would probably use A#, C# and E in b.15 instead of Gb, Db and Fb.

Thanks for sharing!

Henry

Ok, the first starts in B min and ends in G maj, so…

about that chord, G A# C# E,,,, it would be A#dim7/G … a bit odd.

Wonderful miniatures! Very interesting chord progressions, you definitely have a flair for interesting harmony. Well done

First miniature: very relaxing tune, delightful harmony... I dunno, I don't actually have criticism for this piece; these pieces are neatly crafted, and this one in particular is VERY enjoyable. I will make sure to share it in my media and with my friends.

Wait, the first or the second? Because the first ends in G but the second starts with B-, right?

Second miniature: while the harmony completely convinces me, some rhythm choices don't; specially, the 4/4. I think the first idea of this second miniature was potentially more powerful than the whole first miniature, still I think you squeezed it less. They're miniatures after all I guess, and nevertheless, another very nice piece you made and counting!

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.

I find these pieces both rhythmically simpler than some of your usual works for keyboard.  I think that in this case, that makes them more accessible and lucid.  I love the ending in the 2nd piece - giving the listener a hint of the theme they heard in the beginning as a kind of final echo.  It almost fools the listener into thinking that they're going to get a recapitulation of the A section again but it does sound quite final.  The clusters in the 1st piece add a nice dissonant color to the melody.  Great job and thanks for sharing!

Yes, but sometimes I like to go for something more "direct". In the first piece for example, I wanted to express something nostalgic by using the 9th in the melody with minor chords.
