Partitia

Featured Replies

First movement of my "Partitia for harp and flute."

Partitias have generally short movements so dont freak out cause it's only like 35 seconds long. :)

'Partitia for harp and flute: first movement' by Alex Lancaster - SoundClick song info

  • 2 weeks later...

What a happy sounding little piece :P

Not much I can really say on it other than the fact that I liked it but if you want more people to review it, you should probably post a score of it in one form or another (midi?) as some people will only review if there's a score available.

EDIT: after listening to it several times over, it made me feel quite happy, as if I had eaten a large quantity of chocolate ;)

Good work :P

Ok. I'll try and get a score soon.

lol. A large quantity of chocolate without gaining weight.

ok... I really don't know how to say this... but... I had no clue what a Partitia is...

could you explain...

(BTW- You should always submit a score)

In my experience, partitias have neither short movements nor ensembles since, by definition, they are for solo instrument, however I'll disregard that for this review.

It's short. Short enough that it's very difficult to elaborate much on the piece. You've got a cute, happy and very typical theme which you repeat (which is good in a partitia). The slight variation which you attempt midway through is nice except it feels somewhat out-of-place and then leads into your ending which is completely unsatisfying - it doesn't feel like and ending at all.

I would seriously consider actually working some more on this piece - extend it, develop your theme a bit and give an ending that sounds at least a bit more final.

That's a good idea. The original is about 1:16 but i couldnt fit the whole thing on finale for some dumb reason. I had to improvise an ending. I will post the original soon. I may extend it as well.

Morivou: Partitias are suites for solo or solo and accompaniment. Bach wrote like a million harpsichord partitias.

okay, so, it's very short. it's cute, and the ending is... weird. yeah, fix the ending. and maybe do a bit more with the meldoy. it's too short.

it played 3 times while i wrote this comment, that's how short it is.

yeah.
