"Predelections Of Paganini"

Featured Replies

lovers of bach might like this composition which was simply built around bach's prelude No.2 in c minor BkI, but I Thought my mephistophilian touch to it reminded me of virtuoso nicolo paganini. what would have bach thought of it besides trying to kill me.

Lol! What are you doing? You're going to make Bach come back from the dead and wig beat you!

It must only take you 20 seconds to put these together. I can use the transpose feature on Sibelius and have something that sounds more stable in 15 seconds! Watch! :D

Invisionary, the transposed file doesn't open. :( The silence produced by the not-to-be-opened-file, though, is still more stable sounding than Savant's. :musicwhistle:

Edited; I managed to open it. And, of course, it's more stable! Good work!:D

What are you doing?

Please stop

This is utterly horrible, all you have done is take a beautiful piece of music, speed it up, transpose it, and make it sound completely terrible.

I repeat, please stop and compose some music instead of ruining others'.

I am actually going to agree with Mark.

this isn't, in fact, a "composition".

It's a speeded up and patched-together reworking of the Bach piece.

I also find this piece rather pointless.

It's not as though it can be performed by a pianist.

it is a beautiful piece of music, i did speed it up, however, it was more than just plain transposition regarding complicated impositions to give the original composition more power with revolutionary effects of minor dissonance!

could you give any examples of such 'improvements'?

Actually I don't really get what you're saying in your first post. And yeah make your own music. Don't plagarise.

GARRRGH! It's hideous!

Compositionally, this has no merit, but it actually opened my eyes to the complexities and musical language of the original. Thanks for that, mr ''Savant''

While some composers take it as a huge complement to use one of their themes (or should feel like that, Handel did a good job of "taking other people's stones and polishing them into gems," especially his own themes... and I can bet you money Bach took some themes from others also), direct copying of greater than, oh, say, more than a little bit of a work (I'll remind all those here that Handel really started direct plagarizing after he had his stroke, so he has a good excuse- and he didn't directly plagarize much of the time) is not good for your development as a composer. True, taking a theme by any composer and developing it yourself is a great composition exercise, but directly copying the 2nd prelude of Bach's WTC and beating it to death....

Sorry all for the rest of this... let's just call it anger management with a twist...

DO YOU CALL YOURSELF A MUSICIAN??????????????

...but you're still an idiot.

Zentari, You're going overboard now. There's no need to call him an idiot and ask if he's a musician. If I were a moderator would gave you an infraction for that. You're reviewing his work not debating with him.

Luzideus Savant, when I say things like, "Bach would wig beat you," I'm only joking. Please don't take any of this to heart.

i completely understand invisionary, you were just joking, i actually enjoyed you witty commments, but zentari totally baffles me if he does not have capacity to appreciate new horizons & maintain his cool with utmost courtesy & virtue!

Well class, what have we learned today?

a. using another person's theme can be acceptable as both a composition exercise and when under extreme pressure (such as after a stroke), or if you manage to develop it in a completely different way then the original composition.

b. A savant is not a savant whenever they call themselves a savant.

c. don't ever write something that can't actually be played.

d. Bach will impale your soul the moment you die, and with good reason.

e. Paganini will also impale your soul the moment you die because he could make music out of virtuosity.

f. minor dissonance???? 1) you didn't add small amounts of dissonance and 2) you just proved "minor dissonance" is a form that should be abandoned.

g. don't expect people to proclaim you a genius when you copy a Bach work and call it yours (copy some master that noone knows about, and you have more tact, but you're still an idiot)

h. Handel is still awesome (in my opinion), and so is Bach, and I'll find a wig and beat you with it if you try to copy Bach verbaitim and then call it "your music" again.

Wow, man. Wow.

-C.- So you would argue people who write electronic music are idiots? No offense that is a very ignorant comment.

-D.- Chill out.

-E.- Chill out.

-F.- Chill out.

-G.- I don't think he expects that.

-H.- It is music, music is in the ear of the beholder. Be quiet now you are being rude. Even though I DONT LIKE IT ,does not mean you should bash on him. You being rude and inconsiderate. CHILL OUT. No one deserves this at all. I hope a mod. deletes your post. It disgraces YC and what its about.

Same here, as Mark and Qccowboy stated.

Question is... WHY?

I thought it was great fun! glad I dont have to play it though yikes. oh by the way, people have been using and editing bach for well over a century and bach will always bounce back. I'm sure he wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Well, in my humble opinion, either this "music" is something really unpleasant to listen to, or maybe I'm too stupid to recognize a genius.
