Finale Versus Sibelius

Featured Replies

Yeah, you're right. I think the most important thing for people to consider when choosing between the two is that they should whichever one is easier for them to work in. I personally have a hard time with Sibelius, but Finale for me happens to be very dynamic and straightforword.

So, Tiz , have you uploaded any of your music on this site yet?

Not yet sincerely ... beacuse all my scores are Copyright protected and nothing can warranty me about Copyright violation ... I will publish anyway some exercice that I'm composing ... and that score it's not my intention to put under any Copyright ... just to see in what manner it works ...

According to me, I can publish the scores on every sites ... HTTP or FTP as well ... because once installed Finale or ( for the clients ) Finale Notepad, automatically Windows will open one of those program to read the score ...

The methodology of Sibelius ( with the Plug-In ) sincerely I prefer ... because doesn't require at the client to install anything except a little plug-in in a click ... but it's question of habit too ;-)

another thing a bit off topic. In a hypothetical sense, if Mr. Red were to buy the cometetive version of Sibelius ( much cheaper than regular price) which requires the 2 front pages of a finale guide and registration #, would he be able to just use a friends registration # even though he doesnt have finale for himself?

I really don't like Sibelius's "goal" of trying to put Finale out of business (although I don't think there's any real chance of that). It's the competition between the two programs that ensures they remain quality products. If one went out of business the other would have a monopoly which would not be good.

The programs themselves are simply two different languages capable of expressing the same thing.

I can tell you, I would like that Finale ( CODA ) takes in consideration to develop a plug-in as Sibelius has ... for internet ... becasue with my group, we exchange our files with a ftp site ... and they were constrained to REGISTER them self to finale.com just to download FINALENOTEPAD ... it's crazy! Who is the failed marketer that's invented something like that ... ?! To "register" just to collect users ? I got really nervous for that ... in order to make their life easy ( the life of the member of my group ), I had downloaded it, I've put it on a ftp site, in order to be able to download MANY TIMES without stupid bourocractic procedures ! Neither if I have to ask a document to N.T.S.B. I have to follow this procedure !

I'm sorry but I'm quite upset for this ... and I had to share it with somebody ... you are my victims :-)

Instead of the plug-in of SIbelius is free and it's EASIER to have it ! Without any stupid communication of personal data to anybody ... Unbelievable ...

According to me, THIS is and STILL the weak point of Finale, when you need it obviously ... nevertheless they ( CODA ) are neither able to warranty your/our Copyright ... do I have to laugh ?

Please: fire the marketer ...

For the rest both are very good and complete programs ...
