Need a little help

Hello.

Can u plz listen to my piece for violin and piano?

I'm relatively inexperienced, so i'd appreciate if anybody could point out the weaknesses (which i guess are many), how i could go on with this piece, and what i need to work on in general..

Well I think you have grasped the basics quite well :toothygrin: I would advise you to make your harmonic vocabulary richer: just tonic and dominant and a few more close chords don't make for a very interesting piece. That's what your piece is: nicely done but nothing absolutely special that catches your interest. Another thing is that your melodies are long without having any sort of break in them. Especially in the beginning, the melody just seems to go no place special for a relatively long time without clear distinct sections within the melody.

You have a nice diminished chord near the end. Use diminished chords to start expanding your harmonic vocabulary, as an example. Later you can use chords more further away from the tonal, and chords such as 9th chords and stuff to richen everything.

I like it. Simple but catchy. I wish that it didn't stop at the most interesting part. I would continue with the idea you started on measure 45 and finish the piece off with a highly ornamented repetition of the main theme. Maybe you could even work the trill motive from measure 43 into the keyboard accompaniment. I would also probably change the piano part on measure 26 from parallel octaves to a different interval (maybe a 10th), if not something more consistent with the accompaniment surrounding it. Overall good job.

any thoughts on the piano writing? is it too weird? i feel it inconsistent in terms of difficulty. is there any need to change the piano in the A Major section maybe?
