7/8

Featured Replies

A piece I wrote in 2005, I think. I remember feeling really special for having written something almost entirely in 7/8. I don't know if it's that good though. Feedback is definitely appreciated.

I had forgotten that I stored this on another midi storage site, so here is an older version. I wrote this with Finale and have since made many minor adjustments on Sibelius, so ignore whatever discrepancies you may notice with the sound and score.

I ALMOST danced to this. Which is almost always a good thing.

But the two fast parts I feel were a bit too ramble-y. The constant eight notes got a bit boring after a bit. It SOUNDED good, but got boring.

And some of the voices in there are gross. Like the random bells.

I loves the 7/8 though =DDDDD

Can you post a MIDI? :w00t:

yeah id also like a midi. this sounds like it might appeal to my odd time fetish.

midi please.

Well I didn't really get into the middle part. I could tell what you were going for, but instead of enjoying the middle I was just anxious to return to the more upbeat stuff.

Pretty good job with the song though. The time doesn't feel awkward and an average listener would never notice. I think that is what you should strive to do when writing a song in odd time.

The timpanis at the end feel a little out of place though. I think I'd either have them play less beats, or have them play different notes. The ending was kind of abrupt too.

I did really like the peice though (aside from the middle) I don't want to sound too critical.
