idiotic person i've ever had the (dis)pleasure of conversing with on this forum.

Hahahaha, you sound like Marvin!

Anyway, I was just kidding about posting the Rhapsody; it's mine alright, I just don't see the point since I didn't write it for this competition or anything like that. So I'll pass.

Shut up. I regard you as the most idiotic person i've ever had the (dis)pleasure of conversing with on this forum. Please just die. I see nothing to envy. (not that I don't think he's accomplished)

If I see someone skilled, I don't wine - I ask to learn from them.

Wasn't ownership over that work disputed? Or have you resolved it? Or are you talking about a different work alltogether..? Perhaps I should just shut up. :D Your call, though. I actually listened to the work yesterday - it's extremely accessible yet doesen't sacrifice too much sophistication to become banal.. It would fascinate both idiots like CA here and experienced listeners alike.

EDIT: POST DELETED BY AUTHOR - (Counter-counterpoint, .. I mean counter-counterargument.)

Oh. Then I was unable to discern you type of humour. This must be how people feel when they're exposed to my humour. All is well.

PS: I prefer the expression ''By Great Darwin's beard''. Thanks to Mr. Sorell for introducing me to it!

Here's my attempt. I used three channels/staves so as to make writing a bit less messy, but it's all intended for one piano. Might be unplayable at parts, but whatever. The form's fairly abstract, mostly relying on the motives; the harmonies vary from obviously functional/dysfunctional and not-so-obviously that. The length of the piece probably should've been a bit longer for steadier development, but it's not bad a for hours of work I think.

By the way, Alex, your rhapsody sounds like the beginning of Brahms' Op. 119 rhapsody, the one in Eb :). --Just the first couple bars.

It does?

I haven't listened to much Brahms. I dunno...

It's only the first bars.. just thought I'd let you know. It's not even significant--just a couple chords really. I was randomly listening to a few rhapsodies to get a feel for the styles of rhapsody writing.

A poll will be opened in a couple of weeks when everyone's ready. I want this to be a bigger competition than usual. The rhapsodies people are sending in are really, really, good and I want more entries like them.
