  1. ghost-town-requiem-kyle-hilton-2025-ycf-comp.custom_score.mp3 I had NO Idea what to name this piece. The score's name has been updated to "Ghost Town Requiem" 😉 But I've worked diligently on it, and I feel that it's as good as I'm able to make it. Really just shot for the Halloween/Spooky vibe with both the Instrumentation, key, and rhythmic inflections. Hope y'all enjoy my fun lil' sextet quintet (sorry my brain wasn't all there when I posted this) piece 😉 Score has been updated; @MK_Piano so kindly took it upon himself to download my score and edit the engraving to make it look purdy 😉 ... I have also had a change of heart on the timbre of the score being in C minor, and have transposed it to B minor, one half step lower for a slightly more rich tonality. I also took some advice from @Omicronrg9 regarding the visibility of the Dal Segno mark early on in the score. YCF Halloween Composition .pdf

  2. I've been writting a string quintet inspired by different cryptids. I'd love to submit it - not sure if it has to be written specifically for this challenge.

  3. Yes, Quintet. I was discomboulated when I posted this xD Thanks Also, I'm glad that I've left an impression with "unclered-type" chord figures xD I didn't realize I had a unique way of structuring chord voicings 😅

  4. Hi again @Alex Weidmann! There's a few things that I notice about this. I think that rhythmically, you're not writing for human performers but rather for the strict metronomic execution of a sequencer. Many of your wacky rhythms could be rewritten with rit.'s or accel.'s or fermatas to get the same results with a much simpler and cleaner looking rhythm. Also, some of the rhythms are so quick that you're not able to even hear them (for example the Flute part in measure 64, right before B). Another thing is that the Solo Violin is currently being played by the ensemble strings patch. I think it would sound much more like a concerto if you let us hear it with the Solo Violin sounds! Thanks for sharing!

  5. Here's my latest version of this work. The linking passage at rehearsal mark B is a bit rubbish; but I think the rest is coming together ok? Still need to extend the piece more; but not sure where to do this?

  6. What a cool ensemble, having the bass clarinet and bassoon. I think you really hit the mark with instrument choices, I imagined a black cat walking a wooden fence with the full moon out. Very much a picturesque halloween piece, and you write so fast too! The balance of quirky parts (my favorite was the clarinet rhythm section at like 2:50) and lush UncleRed-type chordal figures with piano worked really well. Score looks good, some enharmonics issues (watch the leading tone) but definitely clean and neat. You're pretty good about your score editing, so nothing new there. 😄 Quintet? 😛

  7. Here is my submission for the competition! I look forward to the feedback, and thank all others for their submissions as well. I haven't finished going through the other submissions that I have not commented on, yet. But will do so ASAP! Enjoy 🙂

  8. I agree as well. And the way to get around the system is to use dollar signs instead of s's: a$$. LoL .. now we just need a forum AI to detect this kind of clever bypass.
