Almost, but not exactly. Quadruple is not a subdivision of duple. That would mean that in 4/4, the half note would get the beat. You need to use quadruple.

This can work, but understand that this is not the standardized way of categorizing time signatures. Simple is when the pulse (where the strong beat is) isn't divided by three. Ex: 2/2 = 1 + 2 + 3/4 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4/8 = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + Complex is when the pulse is divided by three. Ex: 6/8 = 1 2 3 4 5 6 9/16 = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 12/4 = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 Duple is when there are two pulses (ex: 2/4, 6/8). Triple is when there are three pulses (ex: 3/4, 9/16). Quadruple is when there are four pulses (ex: 4/4, 12/8). Then you can put them together. 4/4 would be a simple quadruple, and 6/8 would be a complex duple.

Yeah, I normally count it "123 123 12 12." I just used the actual beats so that it would be understood better. I have some examples of 2/4, 3/4 compared to 6/8 (so you can hopefully understand the different feel), and 10/8. 1st one is just a Scottish March, and I think it's the national anthem. zSHARE - march ex.mp3 2st is a chorale I made a long time ago. 2/4 is normally used for marches and some folk songs. It is just preference, normally. Now, 6/8 and and 3/4 are totally different. 6/8 is what's called a compound time signature, and 3/4 is what's called a simple. Simple time signatures are when the beat is the same as the pulse, and the pulse is diving into 2. For example, when you tap your foot (which represents the pulse) in 3/4, you tap it in three, which is the beat. The pulse is divided by two: 1+ 2+ 3+ | 1+ 2+ 3+ | 1+ 2+ 3+ Compound time signatures are when the beat and the pulse are different, and the pulse is divided by two. In 6/8, you tap your foot every three 8th notes. There are six beats, but two pluses. (The 8th notes are the beat, but the dotted quarter notes are the pulse) You dive the pulse into three: 123 456 | 123 456 Sorry, I'm not really great at teaching. Tell me if anything is confusing. 9/16 is the same as 9/8, except the 16th note would get the beat. It is a compound time signature. You would count it: 123 456 789 | 123 456 789 | Time signatures like 7/8 and 10/8 are called complex. They are just weird. I like 10/8, so I'll just that as an example. There are a few ways to count it. Some of them are: 123 456 78 910 *(Note that the 10 in "910" is a ten, not a 1 and zero)* or 123 45 678 910 I'll get some examples of these up in a second.

I can't tell very well. The snare isn't good, and it is not very clear. I think that movie stuff is often corny, so that's okay for now. You're a pretty good composer. I would say that we're at about the same skill level, but you kinda have more experience. I started almost the same time as you (The beginning of 8th grade). I'm in my 9th grade year right now. I've been around other people who try to compose, and I've kinda gotten a feel for people who are really good composers and people who aren't. I think you're really good. I agree with most people's methods being "unnatural." When you use too much theory and not enough of just composing, it just doesn't seem as music.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. There's just something about it that doesn't really seem to fit in my opinion. Along with the arpeggiation up to the triangle hit, you may also wanna just change up the harp a little bit. Don't worry. I so that sometimes, too. So..for how long have you been composing?

It's pretty good. What software do you use, what kind of music education, and for long have you been composing? 1) The beginning needs a little work. Something about it (either the dynamics, instrumentation or the software) makes it unclear. 2) I could easily tell that it wasn't a real orchestra. 3) Good transition from A to B, but I think they both may need to be longer. 4) In the background of the flute part at 1:45, there is one instrument (I think it is either a harp or a vibraphone) could use a little work. Like, maybe arpeggiations or something? I dunno, just something like that. Also, maybe it could arpeggiat up to the triangle hit at the end Those are just my suggestions. I maybe wrong about some things, but I think that those would make it a little better. Just try them out and see how they sound.

Well, stuff like the hand patterns is easy to learn. The hard stuff if having your own style and working that into the basics. I'm still a beginner, but I think I know the basic steps. First, you need to mastic the basics. Practice conducting with your main hand and staying on beat in 2, 3, and 4 patterns (and make sure the ictus is consistent). Then, practice cues on each beat while still staying in time. Once you've got that down, you can start working on dynamics, style, ect.

I'll do that later. It's put into 7 different .mus files, so it would take a while and I'm kinda busy right now with a composition, and I'm doing some other stuff, too. Can you give feedback without the score for now?

What? I was just telling the truth. That's how you compose metal. I compose classical, and I listen to rock (mostly punk rock) and classical.

Loud annoying music that people whose brain levels don't exceed an snail's would listen to. But seriously. It doesn't matter what you play. It's how loud you play. Just do generic chords (ex: I, IV, V, I) really fast and really, really loud. Oh, and scream a lot. Make lyrics (when you're not screaming) about society and how the government sucks and how life sucks and everything else sucks. There you have it. Metal. Actually, to create metal, you need to get some elements and perform covalent or ionic bonding.

Hmmm....It's pretty good. Some of the parts get a little blended with each other and it doesn't sound great, but it isn't really too bad. That just fixes itself over time as you compose more. Overall, it was pretty good. -
