Song #5, in F# Minor: "Princess of Darkness"

Featured Replies

Before you move this to the Vocal/Choral section, let me explain the reasons I put it here:

1- The lyrics are in portuguese, so not many will understand.

2- The clarinet is replacing the awful mezzo-soprano syntethyzer.

If these are not enough reasons, feel free to move it to the Vocal/Choral section. ^^

This is the fifth and latest song from a song cycle I'm composing.

The original lyrics are a poem from a friend of mine, I made some light modifications so it would fit best:

Princesa da escurid

Oooh, pretty! I liked all of it!

This is very good writing, for the most part. Sadly, most of the harp part is impossible and some of it is

Lol, I might change that note.xD

About the harp part, can you tell me which measures are impossible and explain me why? It'd help me a lot.

Thanks in advance.

A delightful little melody. I enjoyed the opening myself, but opinions always differ.

Another opinion...

Aren't all women a "Princess of Darkness?"

I think they all serve the dark lord and are set here on earth to torture us.

So I thank the 'dark lord' and hope he goes to hell forever.

Uhm...

The Princess of Darkness is the moon.

Sorry

I just went off on a tangent.

Uhm...

The Princess of Darkness is the moon.

She is one fat scallop.

Do not insult the mother of the nightskies!!

very fine composition! loved! the atmosphere is quite fit for such a nocturnal event.

Quite a moody piece, I think you got your idea across quite well, only thing I would have liked to see would've been a little bit more variety in the timbre of the instruments used (playing in a higher register playing in a lower register than normal etc..) But other than that I love it!

Great Job! :D

She is one fat scallop.

:P I think I almost died of laughter.

And I don't think the harp part is impossible.

Yes, the chromatic bit is impossible. There's lots of other sketchy harp stuff in here as well, but I forget where exactly. You should really check out this thread: http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/understanding-harp-4393.html and if you're really interested, this one too: http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/coposing-harp-ochestral-music-470.html They explain about how the harp works, why random things are impossible and why random things are ridiculously easy. I'm not so good at explaining stuff, and there was a lot there that I had no idea about anyway. Writing for harp is a little annoying at times. Good luck!

Also, is there any way you could make a midi?

She is one fat scallop.

that is one bad donkey comment

I rather like it. The harp is as said above a bit iffy but aside of that, lovely! Any chance of a sib or mus?
