Most Realistic Piano Sample(s)

Featured Replies

Which VST plugin do you think offers the nicest, most realistic piano sound? The price of it is not an issue.

You can look at Pianoteq:

Pianoteq – True modelling of pianos and other keyboard or string instruments

The other 2 options which are just out (don't know if there are even demos for the autharised Steinway) is

EWQL Pianos

and

Garritan Steinway

both are HUGE in size and offer some great ideas inside.

I still use pianoteq btw, and I love it! :D

Oh Garritan Steinway, Days ago I was checking their page for a College project of site maps of websites. I was looking for demos of it but I didn't see any demo of Garritan Steinway piano, or maybe I never found them..

Ivory Grand Piano's by Synthogy. It is brilliant.

4Front Truepianos. It's the one I use. Small in size. I think it uses the similar technology as Pianoteq.

I'm a fan of ArtVista's pianos, personally. :)

Not like I could afford it, or are even going to bother looking into it myself, but who does B

IMO the only good thing about them is the nifty stereo widening and pedal sounds.

That said, those are pretty useful.

I used 4front pianos.

How about Propellerhead's Reason Pianos?

How about Propellerhead's Reason Pianos?

Propellerhead Software

well, to use those you obviously need Reason, which imo sucks (unless you're into synths and breakbeats and whatnot). Reason doesn't even give you the option to give different measures different time signatures or different bpm.

nuff said.

oh and btw, those samples aren't really that great, in fact, they're not any good at all compared to the 'big ones' out there.

Also, keep an eye out for Garritan's upcoming Steinway library. It comes with convolution-based DSP modelled sustain and sympathetic resonance, has support for all three pedals including proportional sustain values, and a whole host of other neat features.

I actually have the opportunity to use it for an upcoming project and it's quite exciting.

Well, just to respond to your thoughts, Reason's not all about "synths and breakbeats". I've been doing orchestral work and jazz arrangements for years in Reason.

And yes, you can change time signatures and tempo on the fly. Since v4.

What would a "big one" be?

What would a "big one" be?

Garritan Steinway would be one...

Synthogy Ivory would be another...

EWQL Pianos would be yet another...

All three come in huge packages of 40 GB or more! :D So the "big ones" is actually a litteraly term! :w00t:
