DeepSeaSeamus
How the heck is Zappa pop music. I guess a few of his more lyric based works are a bit poppy but only in a kind of ironic sense...
Qmwne235
Well, I think this is meant as popular music, not strictly pop.
Berlioz
You've never heard that song before?I usually don't like Regina Spektor much, but that song is pretty good. I like The Call besides this one. Nice find, robin!
kromatozomika
Regina's stuff <3 I'm pretty fond of her earlier albums like 11:11 as well, definitely worth a listen if you enjoy her sound and storytelling.... Oh, and while we're at it.. :) YouTube - Ben Folds - You Don't Know Me (feat Regina Spektor)
Berlioz
This song is nice, but what really caught me was the trippy video. Her Morning Elegance - Oren Lavie

Yachar
No sense being so cruel, Nirvana - the kid just wants to have a good musical taste. A thing that I, for example, only possess at some moments. The other times I just want to let the rule of cool rule. :whistling: So.. Pop. I enjoy Clannad. Irish folk-pop-rock-new age band. Basically popularized Irish music. Incredibly tight band, much because every member is related to each other, as far as I've heard. Then REM. Though I hear that some people with absolute hearing HATE Michael Stipe because he sings a bit out of tune. It's a good thing I don't have absolute pitch then. :D And dare I say it... I enjoy a song now and then by Coldplay. I was a fan at the beginning of their career, now I don't care about a lot of their output, but the last album (even though the hype-aversion gets to a lot of people) was, I think, quite good. It even had some proggy tracks like these ones:
Spoon284
I just so happened to not like pop music.Sorry :P Pop is a lot more diverse than the stuff you hear on the radio. Try not to dismiss such a broad category outright. Here's a random sample of some of the stuff I like which you may or may not also like: Pink Floyd - Us and Them The Beatles - A Day in the Life (Who can resist that massive orchestral... thing around 1:50!) Portishead - We Carry On Autechre - Pen Expers (Not for the faint hearted! Really crazy stuff.) Aphex Twin - Meltphace

I'll listen in EDIT: First song is weird....second is...O.o..on the third, will anyone kill me if I think it's out of tune? :/ no. 4.......uhm........uhh......5 doesn't change enough..6 is actually....kinda pretty, but it, again doesn't change a whole lot. 7, the melody is kinda cool, but the backbeat is so distracting. Qmwne235
One song I'm not allowed to like (I have a reputation to maintain!) but I can't get out of my mind is Vanilla Puff by Nan Quan Mama. Haven't found a good youtube recording yet. Other songs I like: YouTube - The Pixies : Where Is My Mind (1988) YouTube - Nirvana - Polly YouTube - Beck - E-Pro: Revised Audio Again Version, Closed Captioned YouTube - TV On The Radio - Wolf Like Me YouTube - Belle & Sebastian -If You're Feeling Sinister- The Oren Lavie song on page 19 and to conclude, my current absolute favorites: YouTube - Modest Mouse - Interstate

Qmwne235
^Meaning pop like "popular", not pop like Britney/Miley-style (which really isn't a real style either since Britney and Miley are quite different...). Contemporary dance music doesn't fit in the rather restrictive category of art music, in a practical sense.
