Nocturne No. 1 - A debussyesque contempoary piece

Featured Replies

Hey,

this is a Nocturne I wrote and it picked up a 2nd place award at Illinois' State Composition Competition. I wrote it in a rush to try and beat the deadline and it actually turned out kind of nice (and I've been told it has a Debussyesque feel). The piece should be considered "contemporary" in that it's development, rhythms, and intervals are not quite typical. I'll try and put up the mp3 of the recording, but if that doesn't work i'll throw it up on youtube. All criticism is welcome!! Thanks

Here's the link!

Very good composition, the ending is a little repetitive and seems rather long and muddled - but overall nice. I love the variation on the harmonic material - very nice unification of the two ideas. Love It!

Excellent! I love this piece! It's fantastic both harmonically and melodically! The tempo and key changes are very fluid! The expression is perfect! Brilliant!

I think it was a wise choice that I listen to you music at night. It was beautiful just that personally, I just find some of the parts too loud for a night. (Just my personal preference). It was overall, a very wonderful piece.
