Guest QcCowboy
Just for the record, I LOL WUT'd at Scarlet Johansson's record for the sheer absurdity of her putting out an album of Tom Waits covers - before I heard it, and so hadn't decided whether I liked it or not. I was actually repulsed and offended when I actually listened to it... ;):whistling: Careful Robin, I didn't say "all"... I said "a whole bunch" of people. So not everyone should feel targetted by my comment.

Old Composer
So not everyone should feel targetted by my comment. Well, I DID. So from now on you have to say a "whole bunch of people except Jamie" Or I will take things personally. You are clearly the one who needs to change, not I, sire. [/satire (or irony. I'm not really sure which cause I'm way too jacked up on Full Throttle right now)]
Andy1044
"lol wut?" = my response when i listen to my own music. Didn't you read the article? LOL WUTs with a question mark are strictly prohibited!

Qmwne235
My pick would have to be mvt. 1 of The Only Piece Ever Written for Violin and Tuba, by PDQ Bach. <3 I think the Sonata for Four Hands Viola and Harpsichord is also a pretty big LOLWUT, as is the Schleptet. Old Composer
Drummers who think they have the right to speak. I would take offense to this, but seeing as how I am a percussionist, and not a drummer, I don't.
Gardener
I would take offense to this, but seeing as how I am a percussionist, and not a drummer, I don't. Looks like some percussionists and drummers are almost as touchy as musicians. :D

blackballoons
I personally think the greatest LOL WUT in music aside from 4:33 and just about anything by Berio is Steve Reich's "Clapping Music". *clap clap clap, clap clap, clap, clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap, clap, clap clap...*
maianess
I personally think the greatest LOL WUT in music aside from 4:33 and just about anything by Berio is Steve Reich's "Clapping Music".*clap clap clap, clap clap, clap, clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap, clap, clap clap...* I LOVE clapping music! Not that I know it well as a piece, but I've got sentimental ties to it. At music camp, we'd all burst into clapping music at least once every two or three days... often at meals... kromatozomika
Not gonna lie...I love his stuff so much, now, but...The first time I heard "Le Bal" by Hans Reichel, and just the sound of the daxophone in general....It was a srs lolwut moment, especially when the low melody/rhythm hits kick in, BRRRRap, brapbrapbrapbrap, bweee-ooooh, *schnorrrr*! Guest QcCowboy
this thread is heading for the Off Topic forum if is devolves into just a string of ignorant bashing posts. Discuss a serious topic, or keep it to Off Topic. Bashing is not discussing. It has no place on this forum.

YC26
Eric Whitacre's Godzilla Eats Las Vegas. That piece is so bando, yet really funny. There is a really good performance of it on youtube by the Florida State University concert band. Here is the link to part 1 and part 2:
Belborn Sarge
As far as "art music" goes, Charles Ives's Fourth Symphony! Andrew Litton's take on Hyperion never fails to make me giggle. Then at the other end of the metric "wut" scale there's Bernd Alois Zimmermann, whose music is equally crazy but so exhaustingly nihilistic I kind-a feel bad getting a kick out of the surface of it. Berio is a very good kind of lolwut. His Sinfonia is the greatest lolwut in history. I love Berio.
Nirvana69
Debussy's music is filled with lolwuts. His music is a lot more sarcastic than most people give it credit for. Even in some of his more serious music, there'll be abrupt transitions and odd metrical/melodical changes to break the mood.
