April 4, 200620 yr When users are shouting to the shoutbox, a system is in place which only allows them to send one shout every 10 seconds. It has come to my attention that when they attempt to send two messages within 10 seconds of one another, "Error" is displayed in the shoutbox. It should instead say something akin to "Flood control is enabled on this board, please wait 10 seconds before replying or posting a new topic". I haven't had time to attempt to fix this bug tonight but I will try tomorrow. In the meantime: this isn't an error, it's just a bug of some kind. EDIT: This might also be an appropriate place to say that I made a small tweak today so the badword filter is now disabled for all users who have access to the Free-For-All forum.
April 5, 200620 yr I'm still opposed to censoring anything at all, but this compromise is wonderfull.
April 5, 200620 yr Author This issue is now fixed. can you make it flash whenever anyone says something new (messenger style)? I'm afraid not, that would constitute too large a modification of the existing code. I think the mod author is working on a new version which behaves like you described, but by the time it comes out we will probably have moved to vBulletin which has a realtime shoutbox anyway. :D
April 6, 200620 yr Author oh noo!! Invision is good! We have to make the switch vBulletin in order for the planned social networking and music management mods to work. It's all explained here:http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/YC-to-...work-t2437.html
April 7, 200620 yr oh noo!!Invision is good![/b] Yes, but honestly, vbulletin is gooder. *Glares at Lee*
April 13, 200620 yr Hopefully that'll fix the annoying problem with the forums not automatically refreshing content.
April 13, 200620 yr For some reason, when I use Invision boards my browser (Opera) doesn't automatically check for changes (or doesn't do it correctly), and it'll always refer to the cached version. I have to manually refresh the page to see the changes - very frusterating to say the least :D.
April 14, 200620 yr Author For some reason, when I use Invision boards my browser (Opera) doesn't automatically check for changes (or doesn't do it correctly), and it'll always refer to the cached version. I have to manually refresh the page to see the changes - very frusterating to say the least . You mean when you click a link taking you to, say, the board index, it produces a cached version of the page? Strange. There is a setting which tells the board to output no-cache headers though; this should have the effect of stopping the user's browser caching any pages. I just turned this setting on, see if you have a better experience now.
April 23, 200620 yr on the topic of the shoutbox.... shoutbox rules. Do not argue with anyone. or something to that effect. That's pretty restrictive. Are you sure it's a good idea to have that as a rule?
April 23, 200620 yr Author Do not argue with anyone. or something to that effect. That's pretty restrictive. Are you sure it's a good idea to have that as a rule?[/b] Because the shoutbox is probably the first thing a guest will see when they visit the board, we would prefer it if members refrained from arguing in it. That sort of thing sullies the atmosphere. However, the key word is "argue", so you are free to debate with another member. If you really must argue, the appropriate place for that would probably be the FFA forum.
April 23, 200620 yr "However, the key word is "argue", so you are free to debate with another member." lol. ok....
April 26, 200620 yr "However, the key word is "argue", so you are free to debate with another member." lol. ok.... Debating is basically a healthy arguing. We have to know what the difference is: we're all responsible and want the guests to have a good impression of us :)

April 30, 200620 yr No we're not responsible or do we not want the guests too get a good impression? :)
April 30, 200620 yr It was a sarcastic comment regarding how we generally behave in the shoutbox. That ruined the whole joke.
April 30, 200620 yr I just had to make it clear that I don't aprove of rule-breaking. (Mike requested it)
