um title speaks for itself ?

Started something which i'm not going to finish until i've saved up to buy a decent orchestra VST, but thought i'd post anyway :-)

I think this is great, even for pretty cheap instruments. Can't wait 'til you finish it!

Ya think? I think it's a big pile of cheese now that I listen to it again :-p I might pick it up again when I get VSL Special Edition and see what it sounds like. I don't really have any good orchestral samples and the electronic percussion...whilst has its charm doesn't really sound that great...

Thanks for your comment tho!

Hey this is actually pretty good. I like it how you incorporated the electronic elements with trad orchestration. This is something that eludes me, and I've been thinking of how to make something like this. I just can't seem to find a good way to combine the two. You on the other had did it pretty well. I think I will have something to learn from this. Good job!

hehe yeah! interesting combination with electro and symphonic!

damn i like that pad in the end, whats it called? too bad it finishes...

i dont know if you wanted to make it epic or not, it sounds more of an in game video kinda thing?

oh well cheers guys!

mr phantom Harry Gregson Williams is the man to copy..ahem I mean by inspired by. All your instruments are just part of one big palette from you to paint from and that includes electronic sounds. It's just luck and patience what fits together. But the post above about the cheapness is absolutely right. I will work on it at some point.

J I have no idea what the pad is called (shrugs) an yeh I was going for BIG sounds. I don't want it to sound in game though. Hopefully once I work on it and get better samples it will sound better

It's definitely big haha. Out of the blue I thought of Ratchet and Clank. The older games on the PS2 hehe. WOOOOOOT! Really cool so far!!

Awesome stuff. But personally, I'd love it more if the percussion had more impact, if that makes sense.

Yeh - I just don't have any good samples really. I'm looking into getting EWQL Goliath - which has some storm drum samples in which should make a difference. Anyone got Goliath??

Can you recommend some of his works in this style??

Yeh sure - If you google "imeem" and then "meal gear solid 4 soundtrack" and go for "spy game" - spy game is really a master class in audio engineering and production, far better than anythin Zimmer has done - but it's in a very Gregson style, so it's all very ambient and or percussive if you're into that sort of thing.

I like your style too! Maybe you want to do a colab for a song? I really like to improvise ;) I made a little improvisation with piano, bass, organ and sax. Well the sax isn't really a sax... but the closest thing I have to it. Its more like a weird synthesizer...

So send me a message if you want to make some music ;-)

I have Goliath, as well as Stormdrum 1 and 2. Goliath's selections from Stormdrum are very small, if you're looking for a wide range of percussion sounds buy Stormdrum instead of Goliath. Goliath is good if you'd like a library that pretty much covers anything, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for samples that can be controlled expressively. DXF and MOD patches are the key to creating realistic MIDI realizations, and Goliath doesn't include either, (apart from the synth patches.)

Just ordered storm drum and Ra after a lot of researching and thinking. Can't wait :-D

Good samples can be important, but so is the DAW you work with. I use Sonar 8 PE and am very happy with it. My latest piece House of Mirrors uses A free VST and GPO which is fairly inexpensive. I have EWQLSO Gold and even though I haven't used it in awhile, I am very happy with it as well. I also have EWQLSO RA, but get an Orchestral Library first. EW is doing a 2 for one right now and that is always a great deal.

Nice piece

Ron

Commenting saying I REALLY liked this.

Other than that, the instruments don't sound very cheap to me...?
