March of the Machine Elves

Featured Replies

Here is my first attempt at a short "orchestral" composition called March of the Machine Elves inspired by the late psychedelic pioneer Terence McKenna.

Made with EWQLSO Gold (kompakt version) and Sonar 7.

epii, I love the opening. There are so many cool colours and fun moments. Plus, I liked your transition between the first and second section of your piece.

While listening, in your second section; I heard a little a syncopation in the strings melody. It was a cool idea but I thought you could have stressed the offbeat a little bit more so that you make that part sound more rhythmic.

Nice piece!

Oh man, brilliant! I haven't had this much fun listening to a song in a while. I had a huge smile on my face at the beginning, and the chattering thing was a very nice touch. I also liked how you threw in the Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Welcome (once again) to YC.

This one is easliy the best of the pieces you have posted (at least IMHO) and was very enjoyable to listen to.

We here in the incidental section try to do our best to comment in each other's threads. Not all of those that post here do so, but those that do tend to get more comments in their own threads and also tend to stick around a lot longer. So join with us and comment in other threads.

It felt very much like it would fit to a movie. So that's really good! :) It was an enjoyable piece, but on it's own, I think it isn't as alive as it would be if it was playing with a piece of footage.

!!!!!!!!!!

It was fun to listen to!

I like little speed up in tempo after half of track before flute part.

Tubas also work nicely

I especially liked the first part of the piece! I'd say it could almost be used in a movie like harry potter to introduce some funny/awkward teacher, if you know what I mean :)

A very good job here!

I liked this piece. The beginning, as has been said, is very nice. Quite imaginative and lively. I liked the instrumentation. The sudden change of mood with the switch to a heavy brass dark sound and the abrupt end I feel didn't quite fit in with the rest of the piece. perhaps a d.c. al fine could help with keeping the mood or perhaps a slight variation of the main theme after the new mood so as to give this piece more of a definitive, convincing end that remains related to the rest of the piece?

Overall this was excellent. :)
