Greetings! I have come here a first time. I need your opinion! (Especially positive) :)

I have created a lot of different music  . Basically tragical and mega-tragical direction

This is cool! Great character to it. And the wah guitars sound really 70's-detective-show! The volume is too low at the moment, here is your track (bottom) compared to a professional song (top):

temp1g.jpg

You can improve this by raising the master fader or using learning how to use a compressor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression

At the moment there are one or two instruments which are panned but most of the main instruments are equal in both speakers - meaning they appear crowded in the same central location:

Also I find the sound to be very lacking in the bass and low-mid section.

I realise these are not "compositional" points but these are the things that will improve the exciting nature of the piece. I hope this helps!

Many thanks! It will help. Criticism at professional is useful to me

Welcome to YC. Well I'd say this one is part Adam West Batman, Mannix (or any other early detective show) with a bit of Rowen and Martin's Laugh-in thrown in.

I agree about bringing up the bass some as well.

Thanks for analogy! It is excellent shows  (everyone in own way) I have simply recollected Austin Powers cinema when composed it :phones:

Well now I can't stop thinking about Austin Powers! When the trumpet comes in I'm reminded of Sublime, and the rhythmic change is welcome. Nice work but keep on tweaking, like others have mentioned.

It's OK, you can forget about OP) When I started to make these composition, i'm just take rock-organ rythm from there and it's all

Hey musicant,

This is pretty hilarious to listen to. I found it quite pleasant and it made me smile, so that's a good thing.

Not much to critique that hasn't been addressed already, but I want to emphasize the fact that this mix sounds extremely squished and flat — I don't know if you processed it badly or just used strangely flat samples, but it needs some serious EQ and panning work. Also, occasionally your trumpet line sounded a bit too fake...some polishing in the sequencing will fix that up. Is this meant to loop? If not, then the ending is extremely underwhelming.

Overall a really fun piece though, thanks for sharing and please comment on other peoples' work as well if you expect them to comment on yours! :)

Yes, I understand, I should listen and commet to others, but now I am filled up by work and I have no a lot of time!

Your remarks not much rigid, but correct!

Yes, there very clumsy samples, but my guitar sounds like that in a mix. A Trumpet - Chris Hein Horns - too long it is necessary to do that there would be a result.

Loops: I do not know, in this track I did not use a loops

Now I learn "mixing" and all about to me spoke above. I wish to become the real professional (some times  )

Hey Musicant,

Quite funny, indeed!

I like your transitions especially the opening and the one around 0:50. Very cool.

I don't know what was soloing between 1:15-1:25, but it seemed to fit with your quirky humor. I'm still wondering if there's a more realistic instruments that still fits the theme. Hard to put my finger on it. It's like a bassoon playing in its high register. For now, the sound is fine.

1:53, trumpet sounds a bit too artificial. Might be on account of the strange swell in volume at 1:52 a few splits of a second before 1:53. Can you make the trumpet louder throughout the section? Again, nice transition following the trumpet line.

A comment Marius made.

Is this meant to loop?

He was asking if the entire piece was meant to loop; not if you used loops in your piece. Often, video game music is created so that you can repeat the song over and over because gameplay time will vary between every player. His question was with regards to the ending. I thought it had a nice build up but ultimately fell flat with just only those two final notes. Can't you put a funny chord in? Something jazzy like:

eb911.pngrhythmg911inbass.pngrhythmd911.pngab911.png

The chords are Eb9#11, G9#11, D9#11, Ab9#11. My personal favourite is the third one. Play around with these and see how you feel.

I didn't discuss the investigation theme a lot but I can easily imagine this busy music fitting with some frantic investigation in a game.

Very hip track, Musicant.

Hi Doovongeman! I am glad to your comments!

Thanks for interpretation Marius, now I have understood. If I did music for game has made it counting upon a loop, certainly. But I did not think to somebody will want to use it in game. :ermm:

Unfortunately the musical score is not familiar to me - did not study at musical school and has not learnt the note. ))))

Other remarks, I think - correct. While I have thrown this composition but some times I will complete it.

I will necessarily listen to your works Doovongeman and I will write opinion :)

How do you get the trumpet to do those wavy things?

  • Author

It's just "samples library" - Chris Hein Horns.... It already there is a modulation of real instruments (and records on samples  ), and there is no need to use soft modulation

I use Finale 2010 and the Garritan samples that ocme with it, can I get the same effect?

Hi!!

This is a brilliant little piece, well constructed, and with some really cool stuff in several sections throughout. I haven't got much to say that others haven't pointed out, so great work, and keep composing!!
